Slovakian Prime Minister warns country will stop Muslim refugees from entering

Slovakia’s Prime Minister has warned that the country will fight against immigration from Muslim countries to prevent attacks such as the Paris shooting and Cologne sexual assaults, it has been reported.
Prime Minister Robert Fico made the comments while declaring that multi-culturalism is “a fiction.”
He told reporters that he would resist the European Commission’s plan for mandatory quotas to share 120,000 asylum seekers among the EU’s member states. He said: “Not only are we refusing mandatory quotas, we will never make a voluntary decision that would lead to formation of a united Muslim community in Slovakia. 
“Multi-culturalism is a fiction. Once you let migrants in, you can face such problems”, he said referring to the Paris shootings in November and the recent allegations of mass sexual assaults in Cologne.

They have the right to do such, we must follow their exampul.

I very much doubt they will be able to do any such stance, unless they left the EU, even then they would have a hard time doing so.
Its wrong to discrminate against people on any level, no matter if Muslim.
What should happen is that people are properly vetted.

There was once a part of Serbia that let huge numbers of Muslim Albanians in... then when there was enough Muslims there, the Muslims started kicking off and said that it was theirs and claimed independence... they then ransacked and destroyed churches...

Its the duty of any nation to keep out hostile invaders, but many Muslims are not hostile invaders.
If you take the approach to keep out extremists, this rule should aplly to any extremists, whether racist, religious, homophobic etc.

According to Croatian Association of Prisoners in Serbian Concentration Camps, a total of 8,000 Croatian civilians and Prisoners of war (a large number after the fall of Vukovar) went through Serb prison camps such as Sremska Mitrovica camp, Stajićevo camp, Niš camp and many others where many were heavily abused and tortured. A total of 300 people never returned from them.^{[citation needed]} A total of 4570 camp inmates have started legal action against former Serbia and Montenegro (now Serbia) for torture and abuse in the camps.^[34]
According to Croatia's lawsuit against Yugoslavia (later Serbia) in front of the International Court of Justice, 590 cities and villages were damaged and 35 entirely razed to the ground, three national parks, five natural parks and 19 park cultural monuments were damaged while 171,000 housing units (about 10 percent of the entire housing capacity of the country) were destroyed or damaged in Croatia during the war. About three million landmines were left by the warring fractions that blocked about 300,000 hectares of arable land.^[35]
In its verdict against Ante Gotovina, the ICTY for the first time concluded that the War in Croatia was an international armed conflict since the military of Serbian Krajina acted as an extension to Serbia's military.

This is not really news. It was reported last summer that Slovakia would not take Muslim refugees. They said that before Merkel opened the doors to Germany, and they made no secret of it, so they've been pretty upfront about it.

I think that people have to accept that not everyone has the same views as them, and if the people in Slovakia don't want Muslims there, they will resist any move to force them to take them. It's all very well talking about equality and discrimination, but many people are tribal - that's how communities form in the first place, and it's why so many "birds of a feather" stick together.

So what do you want people on here to do about it? The people in Slovakia will make up their own minds. It might have an effect on the EU eventually because some countries feel they're being forced into a situation they don't want to be in. That's the real issue isn't it?

As they are part of the EU, they would have to abide with current EU laws, which does not allow for such backward inequality. If they choose to discrminate, it could cost the country dear in what the rest of the EU may do, if they blatantly become a prejudiced and discrminatory nation.

Every nation has to play a part in helping and they are not being asked to take in the amounts that other nations are doing. They are behaving like children to be honest, so no a nation should not discrminate based off a fear, that is wrong on every level, as when you open up the door to discrminate, then other areas become discriminated against.

I think it's wrong to force a nation to do something they don't feel comfortable about. They are afraid because they've seen what's happened in other countries, and you'll see - nothing will be done about any of it. Nobody will be sent back to a war zone even though they were given a chance and they blew it.
