Six universities face inquiry over Cage campus talks
Colleges face allegations of failing to comply with Prevent duty after Cage allegedly used meetings to encourage the “sabotage” of the government’s official anti-extremism programme:
Six British universities are facing an inquiry after the controversial human rights group Cage used meetings on campus to encourage the “sabotage” of the government’s official anti-extremism programme. Moazzam Begg, the former Guantánamo Bay detainee who is director of Cage, told students “any right-minded person” would oppose the Prevent strategy, likening it to the methods of the Stasi secret police in the former East Germany. He also told audiences they should have sympathy for jihadists killed fighting with Al Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda.
Cage was allowed to hold the talks at the end of last year at the six institutions – which include three members of the elite Russell Group of universities – despite being described by Boris Johnson as “an apology for terror”. The organisation’s description of the Isil executioner Mohammed Emwazi, known as Jihadi John, as “a beautiful man” also led to two major donors withdrawing funding at the request of the Charity Commission.
The universities now face accusations that they failed to comply with the legal requirement set out by Prevent that they must ensure extremist views do not go unchallenged, in other words making sure panels have people with opposing views. The Higher Education Funding Council for England, the official watchdog body for higher education, said it was “aware” of the events at the universities and would be contacting them to find out “how they assessed the risks and what mitigations they put in place to safeguard staff and students”.

And we wonder why we have problems with extremism with such an abhorant group being allowed by no doubt lefty regressives, clueless on how to tackle extremism. We have tried the left method for years, and its one of appeasement.
No wonder more and more people are getting fed up to the teeth with regressives.
