David Cameron could drop his proposal of a four year ban before EU migrants can claim benefits after pressure from France and Germany, it has been reported.
He is said to be considering a compromise on the measure after French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel suggested a counter offer of a three year ban.
A French official close to the negotiations claimed the British Prime Minister is 'open to compromises and alternatives' after suggesting the controversial welfare reform at a year end meeting of EU leaders.
