You MUST Seek Help

Do not be frightened, embarrassed to seek advice from your GP.

I had a scare a few years back which turned out to be a false alarm but it still frit the bejabbers out of me, I did NOT seek help straight away, aerosol..

My best mate knew I had had a scare, he was having one and luckily for him he told me, not his wife, aerosol, I forced him to go to his GP.
His scare started with him weeing slowly, poor pressure.
He was diagnosed with prostate C, I never use that word in full.
He had self examined his testicles regular and did not find a lump.
At his first hospital consultation they told him that he visited his GP just in time and they were confident of helping him but he was still devastated and lost weight.
The upshot is,

Men, you should self examine yourself for lumps every time you shower.
If you notice any irregularities at all around your private parts seek GP advice immediately, DO NOT LEAVE IT, the earlier your problem is diagnosed, the easier to cure it.

He was given the all clear after 9 months of attending hospital where he was given painless treatment.

Another incident has jogged my memory into writing this.

Good advice, and even better get your wife/partner to give them a good going over too....women are so much better at finding things.

I found I was having trouble weeing 12 years ago,After test told I had Prostate cancer.I had a radical prosectomy ie: complete removal, still have Cancer in that area but under control with chemo injections.

Sorry I can't understand the "aerosol" thing?

Good advice stormee... can demand a test from gp at 50 years old without symptoms.

Simple blood test.

We had a charity group come in and give us all a talk about this at work the other day.

Catch it early and it can be cured.

A raised PSA can tell you whether you have a problem with your prostate, as many older men do, it's can't tell you whether you have prostate cancer or not, so please don't panic if it is raised.  In fact the majority of men with raised psa do not have prostate cancer.

This test will give an indication of possible problems and if raised levels are found then will guarantee further investigation.

Without this early intervention, it could be too late by the time symptoms appear.

Of course, you should always be checked and make sure, but you shouldn't panic as nearly 3/4 men will raised psa don't have cancer, that's all I'm saying.  As someone who has had numerous checks for various suspect things over the last few weeks, I know that more than most.

You are right.. I'm just saying that this check will guarantee your right to further medical investigation whereby otherwise you will not likely get it until symptoms appear and by which time it could be too late to cure.

No argument about that.  You should always check if you have symptoms that cannot be explained.

Quite right... just saying that this early indicative test is legally available for all men at age of 50 and no need for any symptoms to qualify... it is a sort of screening test for all on request.


Well worth taking up as by the time symptoms appear could already be too advanced to contain or cure.

One might as well have a test even without symptoms if it's free.

Right Raggs... it is especially important to get the message out to men to not leave things in the hope it will go away etc, as we are largely prone to do on the whole...

Recently medical advice says it's better to have the whole Prostate removed than mess about with Chemo etc.

You can have your prostate shaved, reduced in size.

Hi folks. Sound advice from some of you. I've had TAMSULOSIN prescribed, it is to control the Prostate Gland, stop it enlarging which is a common thing with older men. It doesn't mean you have cancer, just an enlargement.
