Video, Bloody Hell! Dramatic moment building collapses onto pavement inches from pedestrians in Shepherd's Bush

Hammersmith and Fulham council released the footage in which miraculously no-one was seriously injured



This is the heart-stopping moment a roof of a building collapsed onto a pavement in Shepherd’s Bush collapsed.
The footage shows how two pedestrians were inches from being crushed by the falling mortar as they walked along Uxbridge Road
Miraculously, no-one suffered serious injuries during the collapse - though witnesses said a man was hit in the head by a flying brick.
Seconds before the dramatic collapse, the video shows a window being opened below where the roof fell.

The property where the collapse happened, understood to be a third-floor flat, has now been secured by Hammersmith and Fulham council, who were called in when it was known the owners were abroad.
A statement on the council’s website said the building was being renovated to include three flats and a loft conversion.
The work was being overseen by a private company. The Health and Safety Executive have been informed.

London Fire Brigade were called to Uxbridge Road at 3.21pm on Saturday following the collapse.

Roof of building smashes onto pavement in west London, injuring man

Witness Carl English, 29, told the Standard he was just yards away when the incident unfolded.
He said: “I heard this creaking noise and then turned around and saw bricks flying.
"People were screaming and running out the way.”

A window opened just before it happened - a window just below the roof.

It did, but it was the roof that came down.  Luckily nobody was killed!
