A former BP drilling engineer was convicted Wednesday of deleting text messages from his cellphone to obstruct a federal investigation of the company's massive 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

He was found guilty on one charge and acquitted of a second charge.

A federal jury deliberated for more than nine hours over three days before reaching the verdict on Kurt Mix's case. The count of obstruction of justice carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Mix will be released on his present bond, and sentencing is scheduled for March 26.

Meanwhile:

"A study that investigated the health effects among children in Louisiana and Florida living less than 10 miles from the coast found that more than a third of the parents reported physical or mental health symptoms among their children. The parents reported "unexplained symptoms among their children, including bleeding ears, nose bleeds, and the early start of menstruation among girls," according to David Abramson, director of Columbia University's National Center for Disaster Preparedness."

"According to the European Space Agency, the agency's satellite data was used by the Ocean Foundation to conclude that 20% of the juvenile bluefin tuna were killed by oil in the gulf's most important spawning area."

"Bruce Guerra, a crab fisherman in Louisiana for 25 years, said that since the BP oil spill crabbers are trapping 75 percent fewer crabs and that "crabs have been coming up dead, discolored, or riddled with holes since last year's spill".

It always amazed me that they tried to say once it was cleaned up there would be no problems.

And wow, check out the white face on that guy, along with the name Kurt Mix! Sounds European to me. I guess all white people of European ancestry are hell-bent upon destroying huge swaths of the environment and getting away with it; that's the only logical conclusion I can come to. We must learn more about the agenda of white people with European ancestry and position ourselves as being at war against them.

BP is notorious for flaunting safety measures, not just in the Gulf, but in the North Sea and everywhere.  And here again, they didn't have the proper well cap. It was a complete disregard for safety...a habit with which BP is well familiar.

Did anyone notice that it was just the engineer, and not some corporate executive who got convicted?  Scapegoat!  Yes, I think "billionaire smirks" is the proper term for it.
