Argentine soldiers were subjected to abuse and torture by their own superiors during the 1982 Falklands War against Britain, files released by Argentina's armed forces reveal. They are the first official documents from the conflict to be made public and contain testimonies from soldiers who say they were poorly equipped and cold. They say they were severely beaten for leaving the trenches to look for food. The conflict over the islands cost the lives of more than 900 soldiers. For years, war veterans have complained about the terrible conditions during the conflict, including lack of proper boots and coats, says the BBC's Ignacio de los Reyes in Buenos Aires. The previously secret files describe mock executions and soldiers being tied up inside empty graves. A lieutenant describes how another officer tied his hands and legs to this back and left him face down on the wet sand of a cold Falklands beach for eight hours.
A sergeant says he had to be operated on after being kicked in the testicles.

Argentina and Mexico are the two most brutal, militaristic of the American Hispanic nations.  It's no coincidence that when Germany fell, many Nazis sought refuge in Argentina.  And when the United States offered training to South American nations at Ft. Benning, Paris Isle and Quantico, Argentina was the first to apply.

Well I think this just adds to the fact its no wonder the Falkland islanders want to remain British. I am interesting into looking more into this when more details come out Quill.

There's an interesting book published by the Berkeley Press, titled Cocaine Politics (1998), by Peter Dale Scott and Jonathan Marshall.

It details the armies and the CIA in Central and South America, how Argentina came to influence Mexico, and of course how drugs create the greed and corruption rampant in Latin America.  Discounting the latter, great background on the creeds of Latin American countries.

My eldest son fought with the Para's in the Falklands, he said there was an "elite" section of the Argentine army who were well fed and held the best defensive positions. the rest of them were mostly conscripted and poorly trained and always hungry. he said a lot of Para's and Commando's gave their rations to them.

Yep...modeled after the SS.  Argentinians have always admired the Nazis.
