We've highlighted how in the last few weeks, media coverage of migration into Europe has become increasingly alarmist, not helped by our prime minister using language more associated with the far-right.
The anti-migrant sentiment expressed in some papers became too much for the people behind the @bestofthemail and @dmreporter Twitter accounts, who prefer to remain anonymous.
In a post on Medium, they detailed an experiment conducted on the comments section of the Daily Mail website to show the dangers of this dehumanising language becoming normalised.
They wrote:

[We] wanted to see what level of support the comments would get if we took some famous pieces of Nazi propaganda and changed the word 'Jew' with 'migrant'.

Yes, that quote has received 193 up-votes.
They got more blatant, yet the up-votes kept on coming:

The last time they counted, they received 480 up-votes compared to 16 down-votes for right Nazi comments.

Mail Online later stopped @DMReporter from making further comments on its site for "going against the community guidelines".

Some people are so easily lef by hate, they pander to fear.
The point is to challenege this everytime and the more people challenge the more people will see that such views are vile and have no place in a modern society

No they are humans just like you who have every right to a chance in life just like everyone else has been given only based on georgraphy.
Why do people when they are just one of over 60 million think they can stop people coming to the country? You never see the same say people should not leave and start a new life elsewhere or say to people moving in next door to them they cannot because they may not like them. Tough, get a grip and realise the world needs to work together not take this utterly poor and vile view of helping yourself. If every nation took your attitude this country would be well and truly fucked, because it cannot function without exports.

The joke is many other countries help far more than we, so why are they able to help Victor?
Can you explain why they are able to be human and we find any reason in this country to deny helping people.
You make a big song and dance about how little benefits is needed in money real terms and begrudge people fleeing persecution. You make a hypocritical argument you argue off helping people but only based on geography, that is just absurd.

we have 1000's of young( 20 +) people who should be in their own homes still HAVING to live at home...with no chance to marry etc because of this...how about prioritising THEM first

there are insufficient 1 bed homes so folks are trapped with the "bedroom tax" presumably these immigrants will be housed in homes with spare bedrooms...are THEY going to be subject to that bedroom tax...I seriously doubt it....

WHEN.....our own are "sorted" then we can afford to be "generous"

That is both ethically and morally wrong.
If your view is to help people then you help them, not turn them away because of where they come from.

I don't mean charity in its literal sense of course.

I largely agree with what you've said, apart from the bit about the bedroom tax, but let's not go there ...

I do agree that there are not enough one-bedroom properties, except awful flats with no gardens.

People complain bitterly about cuts in services and benefits, and then they want more people to come here who will need or want services and benefits.

we cant afford to keep paying people the help they need ----- > therefore we have to restrict benefits and housing ----- > we also cant afford to create more suitable social housing---- > so folks will have to "make the best" of it----- >however we will take in any number of unforunate "refugees" and use up what little capacity we have for their benefits--------> but we wont do anything to help YOU.....

Nonsense, we hardly have the amount of refugees come here compare to others.
We can afford and we should pay out to help.
So we are back to excuses on the political front, that does not mean it is impossible to help you are just going off the present policies of this goverment and using that now as a reason.

Then you get a knock-on effect with people complaining that their son/daughter has to get a massive loan to go to college, complaining that their elderly relative can't be cared for properly, or that they can't find anywhere to live because there are too many people here.

How many times do we see people saying that their parents or grandparents paid into the system all their lives and now can't get the care they need because of the lack of money? When it suits them, paying into the system is important, but then they suddenly change their minds and say that it's not important.

We can afford and we should pay out to help.

not according to the govt we cant.... we cant even afford to let old mrs smith stay i her home for the last 50 years withot taxing her for that "spare room"

we cant EVEN afford to let that woman with the disabled kid on oxygen have a "spare room" for his (essential) equipment

So we are back to excuses on the political front, that does not mean it is impossible to help you are just going off the present policies of this goverment and using that now as a reason.

the point surely is that THAT is the point...the policies of govt....you know as well as I that nothing will change on that front....they are one as bad as the other...even IF labour swing left under this new chap...he will be crippled by those determined to ensure their back pocket....and as we know the left have the financial nous of a dead mouse...

So your argument is poor yet again as I think you will find going back that in many cases they did not pay into the system if you go back a few generations. Not being sexist but how many wives payed into the system when they never even worked? In fact society paid far less into the system and you think that means their children for life gets to be advanatage over others based on this when in fact people with children get far better benefits than those who do not have children? Thats abusrd Victor on every level. People go through live never paying into the system as they cannot and they will not be able to pay intot he system for their children. Does that now with your argument make them to be denied any benefits based on this reasoning your are giving me?
