Fatah Member Calls For 'Two States In One Space,' Separated By A Virtual Border
In a July 13, 2015 article titled "Two States In One Space – Why? and How?" on the website of the independent Palestinian agency Ma'an (maannews.com), Fatah member 'Awni Al-Mashni, from Bethlehem, presented his perceptions on a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This solution would, he said, be based on following principles: an independent sovereign Palestinian state will be established, in the June 4, 1967 borders with no border adjustments; the border between the two states will be open, allowing Palestinians and Israelis to move, reside, and work in either of the two countries; Jewish settlements will be brought under Palestinian control; Israeli citizens residing in Palestine and Palestinian citizens residing in Israel will have full civil rights in their countries of residence, but political rights only in their respective home countries.
As for Jerusalem, Al-Mashni proposes to unite East and West Jerusalem under a joint municipal council in which Palestinians and Israelis will have equal representation. The united city will have its own governmental and security apparatuses and will serve as the capital of both states. Regarding the Palestinian refugees, Al-Mashni proposes what he calls a "creative solution": the refugees in the Palestinian diaspora will have the right to become Palestinian citizens and to return to the Palestinian state; their rights will be restored to them in accordance with the international law, and they will have their property restored to them and compensation paid. Like any other Palestinian citizen, they will have the right to live in Israel.
According to Al-Mashni, this solution represents a vision under which both sides benefit, though neither is completely satisfied. It includes all principles of the two-state solution, including the right of return, while leaving the door open for a future single binational state, if both parties wish it. He rejects the two-state solution because, he says, it is based on the existing balance of power, which favors Israel and disadvantages the Palestinians. He also rejects the one-state solution (a single binational in which Israelis and Palestinians have equal rights) as unfeasible at the present time. 'Awni Al-Mashni is active in an Israeli-Palestinian group supporting a "two states, one homeland" solution. The following is a translation of his article's main points:
http://www.memri.org/report/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/8694.htm
Some interesting points.
I doubt very much that each side would agree to it though but this certainly has merit.
What needs to change is the hate more than anything on both sides. As without combating this first there is little chance of a brighter future.
More to read on the link.

Re: Fatah Member Calls For 'Two States In One Space,' Separated By A Virtual Border
Total pie in the sky. Jewish settlements to be brought under Palestinians control? Well that would cause all out war, the most extremist and violent Israeli's live in the settllements. And would this be before or after Israel has managed to destroy all the Palestinians homes in East Jerusalem? Israel allowing the right of return to Palestinians, not a hope in hell.

I already said its unlikely to happen when there is still so much hate, but it is a good proposal, as it is balanced. I think it is unwise to dismiss something where everything else so far has failed.

It's Fatah desperately trying to make themselves relevant again and there is nothing good about a proposal that from the very start is completely unworkable. The best negotiater in the world could not bring a fraction of that about. Anyone who has the faintest inkling of what is happening could tell you that.

Well Fatah are at least trying to do something even though they are still extremists
It is workable, not today or tomorrow but maybe in the future. You are too pessimistic, as like I say the hate needs to be worked on first where on both sides they need to clamp down on extremism, terrorism and hate. As that will continue to prevent any brighter future.

Yes thanks for your opinions on me which have no relevance to the topic and is just a poor deflection to the points made
I guess you have nothing further you wish to discuss on the matter.
No problem.

Whatever.
NPD with bells and whistles
Aligned with ignorance - MEMRI is an Israeli propaganda project
I bet Netanyahu reads that proposal and falls about laughing.

Started by an IDF office, videos are edited and not translated property, luckily we have some Israelis and Palestinians who translate them properly and can put up the full videos to show the truth. Unfortunately they are not on youtube so can't be copied and put on here. There are a huge number of Israeli propaganda sites, it's underwritten by the Israel government and widespread.

So more poor insults and little offer of debate, since you first posted only insults.
Your argument is very weak where it is based off falsehoods. You post daily from [pro Palestinian sites and then moan of sites that counter yours?
How old are you 5?
That nobody can counter your dodgy sites because you of all the most dodgy of people says so?

eddie wrote:What is NPD?
Narcissistic personality disorder
Yet sassy has not the first clue about the disorder mainly because she suffers from some of its traits which i am happy to elaborate on/
Also Memri is not an Israel organisation and reports on all events in the Middle East whether good or bad,
This Fatah member did write this Sassy to claim its a lie requires you to show evidence that they are. Just coming out with nonsense as you do is not evidence it is what the left continually attempt to do with Israel with the worst method called deligitimizing. It seeks to never take on points but the people themselves. It is a form of hatred that the Nazis used against the Jews before, but sadly some [people have never learnt from history.
