Tories accused of planning deep 'ideological' cuts in next term - 2015
Lib Dem treasury chief Danny Alexander accuses Tories of planning deep 'ideological' cuts in next term A Liberal Democrat Cabinet minister has accused the Conservatives of planning deep spending cuts after the 2015 election to shrink the state for ideological reasons.
Danny Alexander, the Treasury Chief Secretary, launched the attack as he tried to reassure Lib Dem activists that his party is not "lurching to the right" even though Nick Clegg is backing more cuts after the election.
Writing on The Independent's website, Mr Alexander hit back at criticism from the Social Liberal Forum, the party's main left of centre pressure group, which fears that endorsing more "Tory cuts" would rob the Lib Dems of their separate identity. He insisted: "This is not binding Liberal Democrat and Conservatives into the same long term fiscal policy. It is about finishing the job that we started in 2010….It is emphatically not about an ideological commitment to a smaller state."

If Danny Alexander believes this to be true then he should do the decent thing and quit this coalition government now. The Tory plan has been obvious all along and now the cat is out the bag.

I have no doubt labour will get in next.
Will they borrow more? No chance because as soon as that figure goes up they would be annihilated.
They will have to continue the cuts.

I'm certainly hope they do, but in the real world Andy, borrowing has risen considerably under this Government, because they have their priorities wrong. If they had borrowed the amount they have and used it wisely and invested in schemes for more jobs etc, by now we would be in a far different place. Instead they have deliberately made people out of work and then stigmatised them for being out of work and stuck their head in the sand about us economically being a virtual third world country now, with people having to use food banks FGS! Can you imagine what the Conservatives would have said during the time of the Labour government if we had people using food banks? Conservatives, every one a hypercrite.

same here the right is actually borrowing more becuase it cuts company taxes and allows more super rich to avoid their taxes.
Abbott pretty much just gave Gina Rhinehart $100 million she should of paid.

Seems the rich have a stranglehold on the world and the moment and don't give a stuff about anyone but themselves.
