'Cure for terminal cancer' found in game-changing drugs
Immunotherapy, which harnesses the body’s own immune system to destroy deadly tumours, has been hailed as one of the biggest breakthroughs in the treatment of cancer for decades:
Terminally ill cancer patients have been “effectively cured” by a game-changing new class of drugs. In one trial, more than half of patients who had just months to live saw deadly tumours shrink or completely disappear. In recent days, the results of trials of a number of treatments which harness the body’s immune system have been announced at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s annual conference in Chicago. They show promise in the fight against skin cancer and lung disease. But results from a slew of trials released last night at the conference showed “spectacular” effects against a multitude of cancers.

Fantastic news. It amazes me how much medical science has progressed in such a rapid time -- we will probably see in our lifetimes the medical practices of just a few decades ago being considered somewhat primitive.

It is brilliant news Ben and could be a real game changer this.
What will be the issue, when it should not be is the costs.

The cost does seem to be pretty high right now, but there's no ceiling that I can see for demand for these drugs if they really work (which appears to be the case). So I'd bet that labs will start making a lot more of it and that the cost should go down steadily, like with anything else.

Seems to be brilliant for some cancers, especially lung cancer and skin cancer. Unfortunately for me, won't do anything for blood cancers that start off by destroying your immune system so you don't have one to fight with.
But bloody good luck to the other who it will save.

I've said for ages that immunotherapy is the way to go. At the moment, it's in use but it's not a replacement for chemotherapy.

Any and all cure for cancer should be and is being investigated. And that "poison" is saving my aunt's life as we speak ...

I hope all goes well for your aunt, it did not save my father but that was some time ago..Ben_Reilly wrote:heavenlyfatheragain wrote:more natural cures should be investigated i think we have been poisoning people long enough...

it seems to be a race between the treatment killing the patient or the cancer killing the patient..
