Well, I took part in Democracy
And have concluded that it needs an enormous amount of energy! Have just slept for nearly 20 hours to get back on my feet again.
I live in a very Tory stronghold, but decided to do my bit and stand for District and Town Council, simply because and have so much admiration for the lady who was running here as MP for the Labour Party, who knew she didn't stand a chance but was putting her heart and soul in it. She already has numerous commendations for helping people in the area when they are in trouble and is a brilliant speaker and fighter for the underdog. My role was organising and although I did some door knocking and enjoyed every minute of it, my running mate, another wonderful woman who runs an animal charity, did a lot more of the legwork than I did and I did a lot of the phoning and telephone canvassing.
On election day we went and sat at the polling stations and had lots of chats with people coming out. That started at 7 in the morning. When voting closed we went to Ipswich for the parliamentary count and didn't get the result until 7.30 on Friday morning. Very proud of our candidate, who bucked the trend and upped her votes by a large amount, the previous Labour candidate had come 4th, she came 2nd beating the Lib Dems and UKIP by a mile (there were actually 6 candidates, including a religious nutter who was trying to stop gay marriage lol) By now we were knacked, went home, but had to be back there by 2 for the District counts, and didn't get our results until 7 that evening. Really pleased as a first timer that we got a large number of votes and pushed out UKIP and Lib Dems. So, Friday night, back home, out again at 6 Saturday morning for the town vote. Again was really pleased we got a large number of votes and was absolutely thrilled that my running mate who must have worn her legs to stumps with her hard work, managed to get on the Town Council. So pleased for her.
We had a quick meeting and our parliamentary candidate has decided to set up a group for helping the people who are going to be flattened by the cuts the Tories will bring in, the ones they wouldn't talk about, and I'm really honoured she has asked me to help her. I think it is going to be something that is essential for the vunerable people who are going to have their lives decimated.
Then I came back and slept and have only just got up, was so tired I couldn't even speak. I know I get more tired than most because of the leukaemia, but everyone was knackered,
I see the media hasn't changed, huge anti austerity rallies in London, but hardly a word of them anywhere
The fight will never stop, because in a years time people will see what they have done and we'll be there to carry on the fight. Sod CLL, if there is a anti-austerity rally next week I'll be one it, come hell or high water, even if I have to sleep for a week afterwards. 63% of this country did not vote for Cameron but are going to have to put up with the hell he is going to rain down on people. The weak and vunerable are scared to death, lets hope we can help the keep their heads above water.
Seems I might have to wait until June:

Re: Well, I took part in Democracy
You are an idiot... labour left office with annual borrowing at £170,000,000,000 (£170billion) extra a year going onto our national debt, and rising.
Everyone knows you can't borrow yourself out of debt.
We are paying over £50 billion a year in interest alone on our national debt.
It is an unsustainable rising debt spiral and needs getting under control as quick as possible before we are totally bankrupt as a nation.
Why is this so hard for people like you to understand!?
And This is what you leftie scum thugs are up to...
And on V.E. day of all days...!
What lovely people you support...

Well done for standing for election. I should think it must be tiring. Perhaps that's why three of the party leaders resigned - to have a rest.

Well, they might not have intended that to be the reason, but perhaps they will take the pragmatic view and realise that is what they are going to get

Good evening Sassy.
Once upon a time I would have replied that you wouldn't know what democracy was if it slapped you in the face.
But it slapped you right round the face on Friday. So now at last, you know what democracy is.

Re: Well, I took part in Democracy
No actually Shady, we bucked the national trend and now have stratagies for working behind the scenes to alleviate the harm that is going to happen to so many people. Democracy is not just about elections, there are many levels and many ways I'm glad to say. It won't be long before people realise that an 'I'm all right Jack' philosophy can come back and bite you if you become one of the people at the sharp end. Anyone can get ill, anyone can lose their job, anyone can have an accident etc.

One should acknowledge the effort which candidates make IMO. They at least are trying to change things instead of holding forth from their own sofa. I might not agree with Sassy's political views, or any other views in fact, but I do admire the fact that she actually went out there and stood for election.

Re: Well, I took part in Democracy
Well, you can think what you like Shady, I do hope nothing ever happens to you that you become one of the vunerable. You might think you live in a little immune bubble, but it can happen to you as easily as anyone else. Be careful what you wish for Shady, because you might find us smashed, you sick and nobody to stand up for you when they step on you. Because they'll step on you the same way they would step on anyone else.

Heck, I'm really touched, thanks. I think in five years time it might be too much, but if I'm still going I'll try again, at least with backing up the parliamentary candidate, because she is a fantastic woman who has helped so many people it's amazing.

Partly agree in that you are right she is a low life racist and part of the problem, but you actually are part of the jigsaw, as your piece fits perfectly into her rhetoric of hate, one that is able to create a master piece in hatred

I never rang him, so there you get your facts wrong again and what is perverted about talking to another poster mate?
If you see perversion in having a chat on the phone, then please share this with the forum, where clearly you can explain how this is perverse to you, when it is completely normal to everyone else?
The factis shady, you are the biggest wanker on here, you are one fucked up mental case that really needs help. I could help you, but I think you might be too far gone for help.
You could prove me wrong on this and I only hope you do
