Boycott Indiana
Indiana's new Religious Freedom law has upset the nation. On the surface, it says that it will protect the ability for people to act on their religious beliefs. But like voter suppression, it is a law designed to do something quite the opposite. It is designed to protect people who discriminate against the LBGTs of the world.
The law pits religion against individual rights, and provides protection for those who discrimination and claim their religion made them do it. Not that religion has anything to do with it...it just gives homophobes a safe harbor to go to if they face reprisals for their discrimination, such as suit or any legal action.
Gov. Mike Pence, who signed the law into action this past week, appeared on This Week and tried unsuccessfully to defend the law. Vowing he would not change the law, he said his effort was to clarify the bill. He meant "confuse". In the face of heated questions, he deflected rather than responded.
I have always siad, If a person uses an abundance of adjectives, rather than a simple 'yes' or 'no', you can bet he is trying to duck the question. Take a look: http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/video/gov-mike-pence-religious-freedom-law-29987447
WHAT A FOOKING LIAR!!! Misunderstanding? I often talk about Republican elitism, and here it is...how stupid does he think his constituents are? What an insult to Indianans. Why is it Republicans and conservatives are always the ones who are lying in order to sell their programs? Also, catch the abundant name dropping...is he insecure, or what?

Concerns over Indiana’s new religious freedom law led to pledges by businesses and cities to boycott Indiana rather than face discrimination.
San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee is the latest voice to condemn Gov. Mike Pence’s signing of the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which is feared to have given business owners a valid defense in discrimination based on religious beliefs.
The policy has led to Lee to prohibit his employees from visiting the Hoosier state on official business and with tax dollars, except when it is deemed essential to public health and safety.
The mayor’s city is home to the highest per capita of the nation’s adults who identify as LGBT.
“San Francisco taxpayers will not subsidize legally-sanctioned discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people by the State of Indiana,” Lee wrote.
The call to boycott Indiana has been perpetuated by celebrity social media posts where artists and actors have taken an advocate interest in Indiana’s government.
George Takei asked followers to contact the governor's office and complain about the senate bill that could prove discriminatory against those who identify as LGBT, while Broadway star Audra McDonald tweeted at Gov. Pence personally to ask if it was safe for gay members of her band to stay at an Indiana hotel while on tour through the state.
“Should we call ahead to make sure the hotel accepts us all? Or could you maybe send us a list of where it’s okay for us to go? Might the law apply to me? I’m black,” McDonald asked Pence.

Media wrote:Pence refused to answer two “yes or no” questions posed to him by Stephanopoulos over the potentially discriminatory ramifications of the bill, including whether it would allow a florist to deny services to a gay couple, as its supporters maintain.
“There’s been shameless rhetoric about my state and this law and its intention all over the internet,” Pence said. “People are trying to make it about one particular issue, and now you’re doing that as well.”
Stephanopoulos asked the question several more times. “It’s a simple yes or no question,” Stephanopoulos said.

Re: Boycott Indiana
Next weekend the NCAA Championship Final Four in basketball is on television. It will be the big sports event of the Spring...known as March Madness. It is played out in the City of Indianapolis, major city in Indiana.
Do we boycott the NCAAs to express our disgust? Or, do we direct our outrage to the sponsors? As one person said:

Re: Boycott Indiana
Looks like the Indiana legislature is going back to work on this one. The national outrage has been that immense. Gov. Pence's performance in response to the questioning of George Stephanopoulos was so bad that Indiana is taking a beating in the polls.
The NCAA is thinking of holding the championships elsewhere, and even moving their headquarters. The company, Angie's List is even stopping construction on their new headquarters building and looking elsewhere.
