UK government propaganda!

Yes and hard to believe really, they put on benefits and proud in with a series about thieves because it is part of the Tory agenda to label benefits claimants as thieves as the long term unemployed will be made to do community service from April next year all government staged propaganda imho.


It's like the times of Oliver Twist really, a return to the workhouse where the long term unemployed (through no fault of their own) will be required to do slave labour for £70 a week (modern day equivalent of gruel) because that's all you will be able to afford to eat.

That was the first program.....The latest one that was aired this evening involved 'pick pockets and proud'....It's so fucking staged (excuse my French)...Designed IMO to pit the poor against the poor and the divide to rule tactic.

We do have Work for the Dole here, no one actually works for it, just forces people to turn up some where and hang around for a few hours. Which might sound pointless until you consider there are people that abuse the system and have cash in the hand jobs or something. this catches them out as they cant do their cash job and attend sweeping and leaning classes (Work for Dole) so they lose the benifits.

If you are on long term benifits then Society is paying your way, having Society request that you appear for some light duties that will also catch out frauds and may get some people into a routine that will get them a job is fair enough.

The Whole on the Dole a proud thing is common here they're called Bogans, and 98% of Aussies look at Bogan pride as 'dumb people proud of their stupidiity because they dont know better' if they want to live on half the minimun weekly wage fine.

The present system requires claimants of job seekers allowance to attend the job centre every two weeks, where they have to provide proof that they have been actively seeking work, the long term unemployed already have to attend job club which requires them to attend on a daily basis for a few hours a day, i agree that there is nothing wrong about that until you consider that benefit claimants in this country only get £70 a week and with rising fuel/food prices how are they going to afford daily fares to the job centre, in London we have the most expensive public transport fares in the whole of Europe and the lowest rates of benefits paid.

The Government's "back to work" schemes - which make jobseekers work for their benefits - were legally flawed, the UK's highest court ruled today.

Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith failed in his Supreme Court bid to overturn an earlier ruling that 2011 regulations case underpinning the schemes were invalid.

Five Supreme Court justices upheld a Court of Appeal decision which went against the Government in February.

The schemes were condemned by critics as "slave labour" because they involved work without pay and cuts in jobseeker's allowance for those who failed to comply with the rules.

But the Supreme Court ruled that regulations did not constitute forced or compulsory labour.

the whole potential slave labour thing was an issue here, but gov't agree'd they would only be doing things that no one was going to get employed to do. which also prevents employers not employing someone because they can get work-for-dole person instead for cheaper.

Just pay them the minimum wage and be done with it......Now that would be fair  

Most just go clean a play ground for the day or something.
Also pretty much any Volunteer work with a registered charity counts towards it to. (Good news for dogs and cats since their has been a huge increase in Volunteers at RSPCA shelters)    (why is there no Dog? Elephant will have to do)
So on balance it has been good for society, but it think there does need to be significant debate to make sure you strike that balance

Duncan "I believe" Smith is duplicitous, lying scumbag. The man has no shame, has lied on his cv, got caught fiddling for his wife's 'work' and has been proved totally wrong by figures for his pet schemes. Even his long worked on wet dream of universal credit has collapsed to the point of only one benefit centre operated it on launch day. The man should have been moved when Cameron wanted to move him but spineless Dave bottled out of it. Him and McVey are a marriage made in hell.

Everything the fool smith touches costs money and turns to shit. The biggest saving of all was to do nothing when he came to Lord it over the DWP.
