The Canadian Fraser Institute has released its report evaluating how each country measures in security and safety, movement, expression and relationship freedoms.
New Zealand topped the index as offering the highest level of human freedom worldwide, followed by the Netherlands and Hong Kong.
Australia came in fourth. The US ranked seventh.

Unless it is the same author using the same measurements, it won't be a good measure of how things are changing.

I think the top few countries are the ones where the people are more laid back. For example, the other day I parked outside a shop in town to pick up some heavy bags. Another man parked in front of me. Along came a traffic warden, stopped the man in front who said "sure I won't be a couple of minutes". Okay said the warden and sauntered on, totally ignoring my car. Can you imagine that happening in the UK?

I think our freedom index will be smashed next year, PM Abbot has taken away so many, in the last 6 months

That's really sad; fourth place in the world is awesome. I think any government that isn't striving to top this list is illegitimate.
