Britons claiming more in benefits abroad than Britain hands out
Unemployed Britons in Europe are drawing much more in benefits and allowances in the wealthier EU countries than their nationals are claiming in the UK, despite the British government’s arguments about migrants flocking in to the country to secure better welfare payments.
At least 30,000 British nationals are claiming unemployment benefit in countries around the EU, research by the Guardian has found, based on responses from 23 of the 27 other EU countries.

what a disingenious pack of lies and twisting
firstly it doesnt give TOTALS which means that while you can say mor brits claim in germany than germans do in britain that does NOT give the correct figure NOR does it total COST...
the ONLY way to show a TRURHFUL answer is to lump ALL eu emigrants togather in britain and likewise brits in europe...
MORE lefty trash stats from incompetant idiots...and the lefties are trying to get us to vothe for em in a few months time....
YE GODS....much as I despise em I would sooner vote tory than labour this time....
(I wish we had a ukip but then cant have everything)

but that is not exactly truthful either
Why is it Britain and everyone else
Clearly Poland and other eastern European countries are going to take less and represent a higher number externally (and graph shows that).
BUT if Germany is taking so many of you they are probably taking even More Poles Too. And the Number of Brits taking advantage of the Western European nations is more than the number of western Europeans taking advantage of Britain.
The headline is disingenuous as even the graph doesn't show that

Yes veya , true, but then very few object to western europeans, most of them over here are generally unrecognisable and dont, as a rule excessively engage our other services.
most western europeans are reasonably healthy and speak decent english (and moreover WANT TO)
the same was true of the old "post war poles" who stayed here....
the new generation of eastern eu subjects are somewhat different...
moreover the whole article is a disingenious deflection from the REAL problem... NON EU migrants
why do you thing britain has a rising trend of TB atm....its not from "native sources" and its distribution confirms it....

well you cant have everything go your way
I think having more control over immigration is actually fine (for reasons like disease), in a perfect world maybe everyone can travel freely but we are not at the point yet. I think the Idea that you can stop immigration is naive and selfish and like most things it is trying to achieve the right balance.
I also think the whole "immigrants are a problem thing" that the media keeps pushing is to distract from the 1% that are raping everyone harder than ever before.

The graph shows the numbers it doesn't show the value. Europe pays higher unemployment benefit than UK so the amount of benefit paid to UK abroad is more than we pay out to Europeans.
In Germany if the claimant has no children, they will receive 60 percent of their previous net earnings. If caring for children under 18, this rises to 67 percent. The duration of benefits depends on the length of the period during which contributions have been paid and on age, with a maximum duration of 24 months. It ranges from six months for people who have been subject to compulsory insurance for 12 months up to a maximum of 24 months for older people who have been subject to compulsory insurance for 36 months
Sickness benefits (Krankengeld)
The employer is responsible for paying the worker's full salary for up to six weeks, thereafter the Krankenkasse pays 70 percent of gross earnings (up to a maximum of 90 percent of net earnings). Benefits are paid for up to 78 weeks in a three-year period for the same illness.

And we have a cheek to bump our gums about foreigners claiming benefits here!
And it's not just in the EU either. Oh the shame.

There are thousands of Briton's living abroad who still claim benefits from the British government, including JSA for a limited period. Winter heating allowance is still paid to people even if they live in a tropical Sahara desert
