The great lumbering doofuses may be best known for decades of violent imperialism and choking on fast food at home, but it turns out they're also dumb. That's what a study from the Oklahoma State University Department of Agricultural Economics suggests, anyway, finding that 80% of Americans support "mandatory labels on foods containing DNA."
Mandatory labelling on foods containing potentially harmful substances are, sure as anything, a good provision. Only problem being, DNA exists in virtually all foods as it exists in all people. You might as well ask for mandatory labels on food containing food.
To be fair to American citizens, this doesn't mean they're dumb, but it speaks to the horrific state of the US education system and how severely the government is failing its people. That they would mistake a fundamental part of organic existence for a harmful chemical should tell you all you need to know about how well scientific education is funded in America.
The Washington Post also points out that a 2012 survey had 25% of America believing the sun revolves around the Earth. Someone get these seppos the Cosmos Blu-Rays.

I Saw the thing where you could buy land in Scotland and be legally called a lord....
I was thinking it would be cool but then at the same time embarrassing and having to explain it all the time
I didn't buy it,
I wonder if it a difference in the US attitude towards titles... maybe cause they dont have a Queen

Her Majesty's prerogative in respect of determining succession to titles and dignities in Scotland, has recently produced the following guidance:
The term ‘laird’ has generally been applied to the owner of an estate, sometimes by the owner himself or, more commonly, by those living and working on the estate. It is a description rather than a title, and is not appropriate for the owner of a normal residential property, far less the owner of a small souvenir plot of land. It goes without saying that the term ‘laird’ is not synonymous with that of ‘lord’ or ‘lady’

Simply judging by that, the 'guidance' is a nullity. If Laird is a mere description, then the Queen has no jurisdiction to say what is, or is not appropriate in its use. As mere 'description' the only criticism can be grammatical, and therefore the appropriate authority is your third-grade teacher.
The Queen would have been better off not trying to minimize the title, thereby removing use of it from her jurisdiction or authority. That's what you get when edicts are not subject to wise deliberation.

My apologies ,it was remiss of me not to include the link where the extract I used to came from,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laird
I hasten to correct this now hopefully the added information on the history and meaning will stop your law firm on what would be the A typical frivolous American law suit
indicative of the litigious nature of your justice system

Well, you see...the mere suggestion of an American law firm becoming involved has gotten the job done.
It does appear that the Lord Lyon has taken the patina off of Her Majesty's prerogative.
