Looks like they will get their wish.
The UK can't be seen to be weak.
Neither will the U.S. -- I think the U.S. is more susceptible to that than the UK, actually.
Brings to mind the old hippy saying -- what if there was a war but nobody showed up? As you say, we're playing right into their hands. ISIS is just like al Qaeda in the sense that it's filled with people who are happy to die before the real war is over, and to wage it by slowly bleeding the West to death.
Re: ISIS murder David Haines
What is the answer then? Let them keep chopping people up?
They're fucking animals.
They're fucking animals.

Re: ISIS murder David Haines
We either play into their hands and bomb them to extinction or these sickening acts will go on, and although some of these beheadings seem close to home we must remember that ISIS acts of atrocity are happening to many others.
We must act. I really can't see that their 'look at us poor Muslims being oppressed' act will wash with anyone, least of all the moderate Muslim community who are as sickened as the rest of us, maybe more because they are committing them in the name of Islam.

Blanket bomb the bastards straight to hell.
Get the feck out of the EU and get the death penalty back. Death penalty for any members of IS or its supporters caught in the UK.

Zack, forcing them into groups by ground forces, and then bombing the shit out of them is a tactic that worked very well in Vietnam, I think that is very good idea!

Re: ISIS murder David Haines
deploy 5,000 special forces (between the allied nations we can easily do this using only the best of the best) to take areas of strategic importance
use maximum air support to obliterate anything else ISIS holds
OR as Nicko suggests send in Lone wolf

UK steps closer to taking military action against ISIS
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/14/isis-david-cameron-david-haines-alan-henning-military-action
"No Arab state has yet publicly promised to participate in military action, but the countries are believed to include Saudi Arabia and the UAE,whose aircraft recently bombed Islamist militia targets in Libya from bases in Egypt.
A senior western source told the Guardian that Saudi Arabia felt so threatened by Isis that it was prepared to act in a frontline role. "There is a very real possibility that we could have the Saudi air force bombing targets inside Syria. That is a remarkable development, and something the US would be very pleased to see."
Another senior official said that Saudi Arabia was now far more willing to play an open role in the offensive against Isis than it did during the 1991 Gulf war and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. On both previous campaigns, Riyadh allowed its military bases to be used by US forces, but did not commit its own troops or airmen. This time, Riyadh sees Isis as a direct threat. "They actually see themselves as the real target. They know that they have to step up, and they are ready to, from what we can see," the official said."
Interesting.
