http://www.news.com.au/world/europe/giant-spiderdog-terrifies-passersby-in-viral-video/story-fnh81p7g-1227049737917
A DOG dressed up as a giant spider, and seen terrorising unsuspecting victims, has become an internet sensation.
Chica the Dog Spider is the fever dream and film creation of Polish prankster Sylwester Wardega, whose imaginative short already has almost 8 million views on YouTube.

Re: Giant 'dog size' spider
Sorry Eddie but you need to know, hope it does not freak you out:
You are not alone. Your body is a collection of microbes, fungi, viruses…and even other animals. In fact, you aren’t even the only animal using your face. Right now, in the general vicinity of your nose, there are at least two species of microscopic mites living in your pores. You would expect scientists to know quite a lot about these animals (given that we share our faces with them), but we don’t.
Here is what we do know: Demodex mites are microscopic arachnids (relatives of spiders and ticks) that live in and on the skin of mammals – including humans. They have been found on every mammal species where we’ve looked for them, except the platypus and their odd egg-laying relatives.
Often mammals appear to host more than one species, with some poor field mouse species housing four mite species on its face alone. Generally, these mites live out a benign coexistence with their hosts. But if that fine balance is disrupted, they are known to cause mange amongst our furry friends, and skin ailments like rosacea and blepharitis in humans. Most of us are simply content – if unaware – carriers of these spindly, eight-legged pore-dwellers.
Scientists from NC State, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and the California Academy of Sciences have just published a study that uncovers some previously unknown truths regarding these little-known mites – all the while providing a glimpse into even bigger mysteries that have yet to be solved.

WHY ? What did a centipede ever do to you ?
I suppose millipedes creep you out as well.. What about earthworms ?
I dug up one centipede about a foot long several years ago ! Same colour as that one in the photo'..
Usually though they are only around 4 -> 6" long around here. And various colours (red, brown, black, green - as well as both bright and dull blues..).
IF I dig one up I simply toss it aside - they re-bury themselves quick smart..
ONE would have to be unlucky, or truly careless, to be bitten by centipedes or scorpions around here...
[AS with spiders and snakes, there is a lot of irrational fear and worry over a lot of invertebrates, simply because some of them protect themselves by biting or stinging..].
Bull Ants though ! Now that's a different matter ~ those little mongrels grow to about 2.5 - 3 cms down here, and can jump high enough as to bite you behind the knee or high up on your calf..
You mean aside from the stingers and venom that hurt like hell? Aside the bites swell and become easily infected. And I laugh at your 4"-6" estimate. Where I live I've seen them get up to 10 inches. My dog got bitten and we ended up taking him to the vet who gave us some pain killers.
These bastards are aggressive and before I started regularly putting out the granules were in the hone at least once a month. And you don't need to do anything to aggravate them. They'll climb into your bed and bite you. They also like to stay in clothing drawers.
For the record I don't care about millipedes and I adore earth worms (especially the ones that make my rose bed home.)
For the record this is the species I live with.

Side note: Lizards are awesome. I like the laughing geckos down here.

AS I'VE already stated above, the largest I have found around here was about 12", while down in Victoria they have been recorded at nearly double that length (see my last post, just before this..).
AND as far as their stings go, that's easy to avoid. Redbacks, Bullants, metallic blue wasps ~ they're another kettle of fish altogether...
Talking of fish ~ we have some quite deadly sea life around here, as well. As a matter of fact, we're world renown for them.. Ever heard of box jellyfish, stonefish, blue ringed octopus, bullrouts, white pointers, rock cod, stingrays, bull sharks, bluebottles (aka "Portuguese Man'o'war"..), mauve stingers ???
AND then there's the saltwater crocodiles.. Don't get me started on the crocodiles. ::=|Q::
I missed the cm.
Yeah, I am very familiar with box Jellies they stop by after every full moon for some reason. Portuguese man of war. Those I have encountered. I try to keep far far away from them and their tentacles. Though I will admit that some jellyfish do taste pretty good though I seriously doubt they're cooking box jellies.
As for sharks I worry more about tigers than bulls I'm not sure we have those in my section of the sea. I know we have a lot of white tips and black tips too but those really aren't that aggressive. Supposedly we have hammerheads but I've never seen one.
Stingrays I know we have them but they're generally pretty mellow. Don't bother them and they don't bother you. I've never seen one alive but I know what a fugu is.

found a scorpion in my library yesterday. when I managed to get off the ceiling I somehow bravely trapped it......ok I dropped the heaviest book I could find on it - and then had a quick burial ceremony - I dropped it in the bin and covered it up with stuff and put said bin outside.

Sometimes the biggest is not the baddest. When it comes to scorpions, the Arizona bark-scorpion is one of the worst. He's not all that big...
But he's got one of the worst stings.
I used to buy mesquite wood by the cord...for the fireplace. The logs would be loaded with bark scorpions. Jo, my OH, was a San Francisco poof who came to live with me. In the middle of the night she would go to pee, and inevitably she would find one out on the carpet.

Hi folks. Anyone want some slugs? Grrr, there's more in my garden this year than I've ever seen before, nibbling everything. As for spiders, if there's any in the house I'll pick them up and put outside, unlike the wife, she'll give 'em a headache with her slipper, poor little beggers.

Hi Jade. You have my symapthies. They've nibbled just about everything, even the greenhouse tomatoes. I feed the birds so don't like to use slug pellets, incase the birds eat them.
Ah! I have an idea: I'll pick them all up during the night, which is when they all come out, and sling them over my neighbours garden...wicked.

That's a good idea Quill. BTW, if you do it in a bucket and sling around the garden it keeps cats off. Like an animal, you're scenting and marking your territory. I knew a man who used to do that around his rose bushes. He claimed it worked.
