Least ways, it's the same picture. I took archery in university, but I still don't know what a stabilizer is. For me the sport was just three things: a bow, an arrow and a target.

I'm betting you use a hammer and pound it into the ground. It humms in the breeze, and that calms your nerves. Hence: stabilizer. ::D::

People will already be used to seeing the longer stabilisers that target archers use (to compensate for imbalances and 'torquing' (twisting) in the bow when shooting..), as seen in the Olympics, even if they didn't realise what they are at the time :

However, for field archery and hunting, those archers who have the same problems need shorter stabilisers, so as to avoid getting caught up in the shrubbery. In addition, Trophy Ridge is one company that likes making their gear look just a bit funky (Hoyt is another..):

Traditional style longbows and recurves require the bowyer to select, season and shape the timber for the bow, otherwise the bow won't work too well, and will likely break after shooting the first few dozen arrows...

Likewise, strings have to be woven and correctly matched to the bow, and the arrows need the correct "spine" and length, to get the best results from the system.. What a Face
