Responding to a question posed on a Facebook page — maintained by Alabama television station WKRG — asking for opinions on a recent proposal for a privately-funded atheist display, self-identified Christians filled the comment section with vitriol and hatred for a woman speaking for a Mobile atheist group.

According to the Friendly Atheist, WKRG focused the question, not on the display itself, but on Amanda Scott who represented the Mobile Atheist Community.

“FACEBOOK QUESTION: What are your thoughts on a local woman who wants to see an Athiest motto placed next to the words “In God We Trust” at Government Plaza?,” WKRG posted.

What followed were several thousand comments — many deleted now– attacking Scott, wishing for her death, telling her to leave the country, and criticizing her appearance.

Looks more like people trolling to me. I seriously doubt even the most conservative American Christians believe in stoning people to death, especially in the 21st century.

James David Manning, a pastor from New York City, is calling for Christians to stone gays.

Manning’s ATLAH World Missionary Church has a new announcement:

‘Jesus would stone homos. Stoning is still the law.’

According to the site Joe My God Manning said in a YouTube video that Christians who do not attack gays are ‘advocating lawlessness. Stoning of the homos is now in order. Stoning is still the law.’

It has rapidly migrated from the Arkansas Times - which has broken the story about a controversial book written by Republican candidate for the Arkansas Legislature Charlie Fuqua - to the Huffington Post, but so far media has not identified the most astonishing aspects of Fuqua's suggestion, in his e-book God's Law: The Only Political Solution, that rebellious children should executed in accordance with Deuteronomy 21:18-21.

First, Fuqua is not advocating just any form of execution. By citing those verses from Deuteronomy, candidate Fuqua is recommending stoning rebellious children to death. Here is the scripture Fuqua cites, Deuteronomy 21, verses 18-21, from the King James Version of the Bible:

"18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear."

The year was 2007, and I was a junior at a small Baptist high school in Maryland. My friend had just gotten kicked out of school for supporting gay rights on social media, and it had shifted the entire atmosphere of the school. After all, the issue of homosexuality was rarely discussed, and when it was brought up, it was always talked about as quickly as possible. Now, confronted with the issue, it seemed like the school's administration was taking a harsher approach. I never would have imagined just how harsh the stance that they would take, when no one from the outside was paying attention.

The principal, an affable man in his 50s who also happened to be the Bible teacher, wore a friendly disposition as he entered the classroom the day after the expulsion. I sat there, waiting to hear him talk about the scheduled Bible lesson for the day. The moment he opened his mouth, I knew that the lesson for today had gone out the window. He was going to address my friend's expulsion.

"What sins does the Bible say should be punishable by death?" he said.

"Witchcraft," one student said.

"Correct," he said. "And what are the other sins?"

"Homosexuality and sexual immorality," another student said.

From that point on, the principal went into a 20-minute lecture about homosexuality and what a threat it caused to the world. He then went on to state that in God's perfect world all homosexuals would be stoned and that he could not wait for the day for that to happen. I sat there, mouth agape, as the friendly Christians who often brought up God's love toward everybody voiced their true opinions about homosexuals that focused more on hate than love. Then I realized, this probably is a lot more common in evangelical circles than Americans would like to think.

Jesus would specifically NOT stone Homos or anyone else In Fact that guy is disobeying one of the few REALLY DIRECT COMMANDMENTS Jesus made... "let he with out sin cast the first stone" and to suggest you are sin-less IS a SIN. So you are NEVER allowed to throw stones.

and even Worse...
they HATE America and everything George Washington fought for, and are just too stupid to realise it. Franklin, Washington, Jefferson ALL would literally KILL those people commenting against the American IDEAL that made it the 'greatest', inspired the French revolution, democracy and human rights. The AMERICAN Contribution to a Free and Just Humanity, the Policy of Separation of Church and State.

those people are little better than ISIS they will do the USA what ISIS has done to Iraq if ever given the chance to.

Manning's not the only U.S. preacher who advocates this, by far.

In 1976, Ron Paul's first year as a U.S. Congressional Representative, serving Texas' 22nd District, Paul brought in Christian Reconstructionist Dr. Gary North - who has advocated stoning as a capital punishment for homosexuality [see footnote 2] and argued for the enslavement of non-Christians [see footnote 1], to serve on Paul's Congressional staff as an economic analyst and newsletter writer. The relationship has continued to this day - North helped develop, along with Neo Confederate Thomas Woods, Ron Paul's new Christian home schooling curriculum, launched last April 2013.
