Do we want to add a new moderator?

First topic message reminder :

There's been talk of adding a new one, and now we're actually down one because Lurker has asked to become a regular member. So, Korben had the idea that we could nominate new admins here; let's say that it ends 72 hours from now, and of course you can only nominate one person. If you've been nominated but want to take yourself out of consideration, make a note of it in this thread.

At the end of the nomination period, the admin team will pick another admin. I was going to make that a democratic vote but decided that we have to make sure we're giving that much power to someone the admin team trusts as well.

FFS! When is someone going to do something about LW continuously going after an older man with health problems. Why it is tolerated I don't have a clue. Don't start this as being because Eddie has been made a mod, it's an ongoing problem and I asked Veya the other day to do something about him, other people have requested it as well. Sometimes he does decent posts but most of the time he is just revolting.

Woah! Hang on I was clearing up dinner after a very messy two year old and running a bath and speaking to my mum about her coming over tomorrow between the hours of 1 and 3 (just in case you all wonder where I am tomorrow!)

Just wanted to weigh in on this. Yes, I agree that LW is needlessly abusive in some of his posts, and I've said something before. I would like to see him and several others tone down the personal attacks, basically going back to BigAndy9's points in the thread about addressing the post rather than the poster.

It's way more civil and there's a huge drawback that comes from having every second thing you say being something to badmouth another user -- everyone starts to just tune you out. I will admit that I often don't read what LW has to say because I figure it's just going to be more taking shots at other users.

So LW, if you would tone that down a little, it would indeed help make the site more enjoyable. I've shied away against instituting a general rule against insulting posts because I don't want people to be afraid to post at all, but the insults and the fighting get old really, really fast.
