FTL's Social Media network: Emoji-Only Social Network
http://www.fastcompany.com/3032551/the-recommender/does-the-internet-need-an-emoji-only-social-network-no-but-who-cares?utm_campaign=home&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=exchange&partner=tumblr
An emoji-only social network kind of makes sense. It's a little bit ridiculous to require people to communicate using a limited dictionary of images, but hear me out: People already use the Japanese animations to have full conversations, to illustrate plots to TV shows and movies, search Yelp, and to express things that words could never describe. So why wouldn't people want to share their emotions via emoji on a social network? That's the theory behind Emoji.li, a forthcoming app created by the London-based duo Matt Gray and Tom Scott.
They introduce the app in a video that claims the project is not satire. The two say that app will be available on iOS "very soon."

Good morning Veya.
I wonder if it may be utilized to facilitate communication for people with learning difficulties or a mental disorder or autism?

Possible but learning to communicate beyond the restrictions of set 'languages' is probably going to require a fair bit of creativity and thinking outside the box.
those that are highly creative with exceptional communication skills are more likely to development meaningful communications. the new communications cross the current divide created by the limitations of written languages that are responsible for division between races and cultures.
This may Usher in a New and Glorious world where all races and nationalities can communicate with emoticons regardless of regional language barriers.

Good afternoon Veya.
The drawback with emoticon communication or similar, might be that pictures would not provide the necessary communication detail within the structure of a conversation.
Surely pictures alone could not be used to form sentences which are either complicated or uncomplicated?
Going back to the structure of a sentence/conversation,how would pictures substitute simple grammer which forms part of the sentence?......e.g. words like and,it but?

Grammar is for the weak....
here is an example of a conversation.
And to really see the value the comparison must be with people speaking different languages. Obviously if both people are fluent in the same language it would be no more efficient (and likely less efficient) . But I think it would be easier to use emoticons to communicate with some that is only fluent in Japanese (as someone that is only fluent in English) than trying to use Limited Japanese/English (let alone some case where there is no exposure to each others language).
P.S.
Translation: "Ouch!" "Oh no! What's wrong?" "I've been swimming a lot so I now ache." "Oh dear. Sympathy." "Thanks!"
