Wow, I didn't know that about Wimbledon! I imagine that's been a sore spot for England ...

British tennis fans don't really care as we are all from the same island and those fans on the mount outside of Wimbledon and indeed those that were lucky enough to have seats on centre court were majority English and cheering Andy along to his well deserved win!

Yes but any chance to tease the English must be taken, it is a national pass time.

Grandstand's run down of everything you need to know about day one of the first Test at Trent Bridge.
England came out on top of a topsy-turvy opening day of the Ashes series to snare four wickets with Australia trailing by 140 runs on day one of the first Test at Trent Bridge.
At stumps, Australia was 4 for 75 after Shane Watson (13), Ed Cowan (0) and captain Michael Clarke (0) were all dismissed in rapid succession

Can't stand cricket myself but England seem to be doing quite well!

I will revert to my usual Position...
Ball Sports are for Women
the funny thing about the Lions test is the only people watching the games were Lions fans that can out from England. Union is just about dead in Australia I don't know anyone under 50 that watches it.
As for Cricket My Dad is French as Such I never learned it as a kid and don't really understand the scoring. But yes it does say that England are winning at the moment in our papaers too, although they suggest it wont last.

That's a convenient thing to say!
Seems like the Australian news papers are more about printing spin than printing the facts!

I never understood sports rivalry. It seems like such a waste of good animosity.

It's all just banter really and it's true to say that there has always been a bit of friendly rivalry between the Brits and the Ozzies over sports matters!
They still have our Queen as head of state and that should be celebrated! :D

@Catman
every chance we will have her(or heirs) longer than you... apparently support for the monarchy is higher in Australia than in the UK. like many Australia I don't see us changing, just cause it would be funny for you guys to get rid of them first and it make no difference to us.
We still got the Union Jack in the corner of our flag so When Aussies win she still flies.
And LOLZ @ Cricket

69% support for the monarchy here and i would suggest that there will be a further surge when Kate has the future monarch any time now!
Yeah your new kid did well!

Well i don't know anything about American football at all or baseball!
Football...I think that you call it soccer in the US but for most of the world it's a very big crowd draw!

You will probably put this down to an umpire decision but you did abide by the umpires decision on the last test in Australia!

Oh, I'm a big football/soccer fan, actually. You should see some of my older threads where I try valiantly to convince the group that it might be nearly time to almost sort of starting to take U.S. pro soccer semi-seriously
Watched my beloved FC Dallas fall to the idiotically named Real Salt Lake (you know, the football club decreed by the King of Spain in Salt Lake City, Utah) tonight. And we were doing so well to start the season!
