"Today Was Great" - Said Teenager On Day She Claimed Rolf Harris First Molested Her??
13th May 2014
This sounds very fishy indeed.
A woman allegedly sexually abused by Rolf Harris as teenager demanded £25,000 or she would go to the newspapers with details of their affair, a court heard today.
The woman, who is now in her 40s, claims to have written to the entertainer in 1994 to ask for the money because she wanted to set up a bird sanctuary with her then boyfriend.
But Southwark Crown Court heard that when Harris told her he could not afford to pay the money she was requesting, the woman responded with a warning that he should 'keep an eye on the papers'.
Sonia Woodley QC, defending, asked the woman why she had gone to Harris for financial help despite claiming to have been 'frightened' of him after years of alleged sexual abuse.
'I thought he might help, considering all the things that he had done. I thought it was the least he could do,' the woman replied.
'You asked for £25,000. At that time his career had taken a bit of a slump. Were you aware of that?' Ms Woodley asked. The woman said she wasn't.
'And he told you that he could not, that he couldn't give you that sort of money,' Ms Woodley continued.
'What you said then, was this: 'Keep your eyes on the papers because my brother will get in touch with them',' the barrister added.
The woman rubbished the claims, stating that she or her brother had 'never' said such things.
Jurors heard that the woman claimed this exchange took place through letters, while Harris has suggested it was during a telephone conversation.
Earlier today the court heard how - as a 13-year-old - the woman had described the day she claims Harris first sexually assaulted her as ‘great’ in her diary.
The woman had previously claimed the ‘creepy’ entertainer abused her for the first time when she came out of a shower while on holiday with his family in Hawaii.
But she made no mention of the alleged sexual assault in the diary she kept during the December 1978 holiday, instead writing that she had spent the day at the beach.
On the day in question, the alleged victim wrote: ‘Today was great because we went on the beach and went swimming.’
She also described scrambling over rocks and seeing fish before visiting an aquarium and then returning to the hotel, where she got pearls from an oyster.
Under cross examination, the woman insisted Harris had molested her on that day but she didn’t want to give any hint of her unhappiness in her diary.

Perhaps she was scared to write it in her diary and perhaps she did have a great day apart from Harris' sexual advances, perhaps she liked the attention from him?
She was only thirteen.

I just knew this thread would be by you Andy...that's without my crystal ball.
She's not a victim then, but a scrounger?

And she is one of many, she is not the only victim who will be called. Plus, kids often don't think something is wrong at the time, they feel a bit uneasy but think that as it is an adult it must be ok. That's how adults manage to get away with it.

Hang on though. It's her word against his at the moment. Sure, something happened between them - the question is when. The defence are entitled to actually defend their client you know.

His daughter asked why she had a down on her Dad and had he assaulted her. Strikes me both the mother and the daughter have been groomed to stand up for him.

The woman wrote to him and asked for money though. Why would she do that if she despised him? How could she start a bird sanctuary if she had turned to drink?

Perhaps she thought he should pay for ruining her life and perhaps she hoped for something that was peaceful and beautiful to allow her to recover.

Snap. That's what is was going to say.
Some people believe money will heal.
Personally I wouldn't want money like that.

Who knows, her life sounds as if it was pretty dreadful, he had a hold over her for so many years and she used drink to deal with it. Abused people often don't think rationally.

Hmmmmm, that seems unlikely to me.

Allegedly. The trial is still ongoing remember. I'm just listening to both sides so far, and questioning what's been said.
