92 year old Anti-Apartheid Movement Founder Dies After Racist Attack

Murray Wrobel (92 years old) – a British WW2 hero who also helped start the Anti-Apartheid Movement, a British solidarity organization which campaigned for an end to South African apartheid – died from complications due to being shoved to the ground by Marcus Jean (31 years old) outside Tesco Express in Wimbledon (southwest London).

During a brief dispute over the placement of Jean’s bicycle that was reportedly blocking a trolley rack outside a supermarket, Jean flew into a rage and pushed the elderly man to the ground, causing his hip to fracture. Wrobel’s health soon deteriorated and he eventually died from a stroke in March 2013.

Jean, who is black, is reported as saying to Wrobel at the time of the attack: “You and your kind should have been dead a long time ago!” Jean is now on trial for inflicting grievous bodily harm on the elderly Wrobel.
