Barcelona given transfer ban, fine for using underage players
Spanish champions Barcelona have been given a 14-month transfer ban by Fifa for breaking rules on signing international players under 18.
The Catalan club cannot buy players until the summer of 2015 after the world governing body imposed a transfer ban for the next two windows.
They have also been fined 450,000 Swiss Francs (£305,000).

I don't think that Barcelona ever thought that the penalty would br quite as severe as that and they will now mount an appeal against this.
The lawyers will be in there trying to get this changed.
The broke the rules that were really designed to try and avoid trafficking of younger kids to less fashionable clubs who wouldn't look after their interests in the way they should. I doubt anyone could ever accuse a club like Barcelona would ever do anything other than the right thing and that may well be the basis of their appeal.
