Post by Guest Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:24 am

First topic message reminder :

Mary really conceived without having sexual intercourse?...

I myself believe that to be complete fantasy and impossible unless injected with sperm...

This one is more suited to the God Squad, if you do believe this Favva , can you tell us how this was achieved?..

Cheers Smile

At no point has anyone claimed they can.

A woman can conceive while a virgin.

A woman can conceive while a virgin and without using artificial insemination.

But does the bible say how Mary conceived?..or was it a bit of a Paul Daniels conception?

Well either the bible says virgin or simply young woman - both are eminently possible with no problems and no need of anything miraculous or magic.

If the bible translation is wrong then your point on how she got pregnant is moot, the point is the claim is made she is a virgin off a poor translation, being as there is an entirely different Hebrew word for Virgin.
So a claim is made to her being a young woman when she got pregnant, thus the original disposition is that she was not a virgin, because the word is wrong to start

not a poor translation, the translator needed one word for a young unmarried woman and in those days that would mean her being a virgin as she would still be under her parents roof and would be un touched by men...

sick of saying this but hey they will catch on eventually...

You got it - Aliens!

Haha, I didn't even need to look at your screen name to know who said that... welcome back Tess  Cool lol!

Unlikely though I think; but still more believable than the 'official' story haha

It is a poor translation as seen, and again a Virgin is a different word altogether, you are just making things up to make something that does not fit because there is a different word altogether for virgin, that is a fact and the word for virgin is used when it denotes a person is a virgin and not the word for young woman

So you can be sick all you like of saying, you cannot refute the translations, or how when the real word for virgin is used

Hon I have not been debating what was in the bible I have simply been explaining that virgin birth is more than possible.

In the same way that in the English language the words “young woman” does not indicate sexual purity, in the Hebrew languagethere is no relationship between the words almah and virgin. On the contrary, it is usually a young woman who bears children. The word alma only conveys age/gender. Had Isaiah wished to speak about a virgin, he would have used the word betulah1 (בְּתוּלָה) not almah. The word betulah appears frequently in the Jewish Scriptures, and is the only word – in both biblical and modern Hebrew – that conveys sexual purity.

Moreover, as mentioned earlier, the masculine form of the noun עַלְמָה (alma) is עֶלֶם (elem), which means a “young man,” not a male virgin. This word appears twice in the Jewish Scriptures (I Samuel 17:56, 20:22). As expected, without exception, all Christian Bibles correctly translate עֶלֶם as a “young man,” “lad,” or “stripling,” never “virgin.” Why does theKing James Version of the Bible translate the masculine Hebrew noun לָעֶלֶם (la’elem) as “to the young man” in I Samuel 20:22, and yet the feminine form of the same Hebrew noun הָעַלְמָה as “a virgin” in Isaiah 7:14? The answer is Christian Bibles had no need to mistranslate I Samuel 20:22 because this verse was not misquoted in the New Testament.

In fact, although Isaiah used the Hebrew word almah only one time in his entire corpus (7:14), the prophet uses this word virgin (betulah) five times throughout the book of Isaiah (23:4; 23:12; 37:22; 47:1; 62:5).

it is not a poor translation, they required a single word which meant young, unmarried woman and virgin is perfect as a young unmarried woman in that time would be a virgin....

again....

But that's just dancing around the real question; Mary was specifically stated to have been impregnated by God and it's called a miracle. So according to the bible, the only sperm Mary could have been impregnated by was God's sperm unless he magicked Jesus into her womb.

If you're going to say that the Bible really meant she was just a young unmarried woman rather than a true virgin, you're contradicting the part of the bible that says her pregnancy was a miracle.

As proven it is a poor translation, I have given you the translation from a Jewish Scholar, which again points to the poor translations, which you cannot refute
