Tiny Dinosaur Unearthed Above Arctic Circle
High above the Arctic Circle, along an Alaskan river, palaeontologists have unearthed fossils of the first known tyrannosaur species at either pole.
The new animal comes from so far north that it is named Nanuqsaurus hoglundi, after the Inupiat word for polar bear (nanuq). Its existence near the top of the world shows that relatives of Tyrannosaurus rex survived and even thrived in extreme polar environments, some 70 million years ago.
Perhaps more significantly, Nanuqsaurus may be the first uncontested example of a pint-sized tyrannosaur. In life, the Alaskan dinosaur measured some 7 metres long — small when compared to T. rex, which stretched 12 metres from nose to tail.

Re: Tiny Dinosaur Unearthed Above Arctic Circle
Couple things:
* Roughly 20 feet long is still pretty damn big.
* Are we sure it lived in as "extreme environment" as the Arctic circle is today? I was given to understand that climate change made for a rather warmer climate at both poles than today.
* If it was cold, I bet this was one of the feathered dinosaurs that led to modern birds. Probably a lot of people have seen the most recent scientifically accurate artist depiction of a T-rex, but just in case:

the bone structure and lungs are so different on a bird the evolution idea for birds is ridiculous...

Re: Tiny Dinosaur Unearthed Above Arctic Circle
and how would hollow bones evolve, it would make them smaller and more susceptible to predators, while they develope wings, how would they survive, that would make them prey to everything, natural selection would kill them off.
notice you are not bright enough to argue against the lung difference....

Your understanding is so poor, you lack the basic knowledge to understand that people have been running circles around you on this topic since you first joined up.

I tried to steer you toward resources when you first joined up as HF that that would give you a solid understanding of the mechanics of evolution; as I recall I posted links to around a half-dozen articles and videos. Your continued responses concerning evolution and related topics demonstrated that you have no idea what the theory actually is.

what benefit would developing hollow bones have??

Seriously, you can't think of one advantage of having hollow bones that are structurally as strong as solid bones? Gee skippy, just off the top of my head I'd say that anything that had to chase its prey would be lighter with bones like that. Anything that had to, you know, burn energy to move would be able to survive with less food if it were lighter. Holy crap.
Re: Tiny Dinosaur Unearthed Above Arctic Circle
Oh, and my links were to the truth as we can best understand it with our senses and our brains. Sorry if it wasn't written by ancient desert nomads ...

chase it's prey on the ground, with birds lungs.??
what makes you think birds bones are as strong as normal bones??
why would hollow bones develope just specific to birds if they are that useful?
how big would wings have to be?
how did it know it would get wings or did they come before the bones??

Hi folks. GIGATT and Dibley, like most Creationists, are so entrenched in their religion and brain washed, it is impossible for them to think outside that box. But, should they pluck up the courage type in your search box 'Archaeopteryx.' An animal fossil in the process of evolving into a bird, for it has the rudiments of feathers. The Flying Squirrel, which has a large membrane between it's legs and body, which allows it to glide from tree to tree, can also be classed as an animal in the process of change.
There are many incidents of mammal and other species in that evolving process. I've said before the Baleen whale has within its flippers the remains of legs and feet, another fine example of evolvement. Humans also went through several periods of change, and before you say it, GIGATT, not from monkeys.
Right, that's it for now. I await the usual denials and counter claims.
oops, just remembered something, both the Arctics, north and south, were in warmer climates.

I wish the knowledge you were sharing here had some impact, but there is nobody so stupid as those who are willfully so. These people have no inkling of the tenets of evolutionary theory, and in fact are trying to confuse others as to what they are. When they post things like scientific papers on the ability of DNA to repair itself and think they're somehow pointing out an inconsistency in evolutionary theory -- or when they demonstrate their ignorance as to what "theory" itself means in science -- that really says it all. They not only do not understand; they do not want to understand and will do everything in their power to prevent themselves from understanding.

if you look in to the types of lungs you will find not all the types have the same similarities, so why would some develope one way and some the other, this makes your evolution either sentient or very selective...
check out the unique hip structure of birds, why did they evolve that way...

Idiot again GiG....the hip structure of birds is similar to lizard and has even closer similarity to the hip structure of the raptor like dinosaurs. It is NOT unique DOH!
BTW...for your education...bird lung design is MORE efficient than mammalian, It has to be to supply the huge amount of oxygen required for avian metabolism.
Lizards likewise, but THEY tend to use the high efficiency to be able to hold their breath for long periods...very useful in water AND underground.....

lol but not very useful when on the ground, it would make you very easy prey, according to natural selection you wouldn't last long, did the bones develop after the wings or before or at the same time, what mutation caused it all, how did one know the other would be helpful.....

They remind me of two pupils. The first pupil is taught verbally, the second pupil reads and studies. The first pupil will forget half of what was said, whilst the second pupil will have taken in and remembers what he's read. That's why I keep giving Gigatt and Co. the links so they can read and learn. But no, that's like too much hard work, and despite mountains of answers to their questions by several of us, they still keep repeating the same worn out questions. Do they not know anything? Don't they know there was more than one ice age? That there was more than one extinction? That the continents were all joined together as one landmass? Don't they know and understand that the modern interpretation of 'theory' is different to days gone by? Don't they know the Moon was once part of the Earth? Don't they know the planet's rotation, (day) after it settled down was approximately six hours? I could go on and on but what's the point? They belong to one of those nutty American sects, called The Joseph Prince Ministries. Gawd 'elp 'em'
I would hate to be so ignorant. I don't know about a 'giant step for mankind,' I think it's a giant step backwards for mankind if people like them ruled the world.

how do you propose we know about Dinosaur lung structure? IT is soft tissue it does not fossilise.

the bird "hip
" works fine on the ground for running...ask any ostrich as do the lungs...You see you are spouting unsubstantiated nonsense with no way of backing it....
how would the avian hip make for easy prey...the Raptor dinosaurs where the predator...not prey....

and have you ever heard of FORESTS
you know where the smaller animals escape the large one that can fit between the trees and cant climb as high to the ends of the branches
IE the exact circumstance that turns a

into a cute light sugar glider possum

Re: Tiny Dinosaur Unearthed Above Arctic Circle
Not to mention the simple fact that every species is evolving, always has been and always will be; evolution is commonly accepted as one of the prerequisites for being a "living thing." Although some traits do appear to have developed "faster" than others, that's usually saying that they appeared within several hundred thousand years rather than several million years.
Again I have to bring up the Lenski evolution experiment in which Richard Lenski raised generation after generation of E. coli bacteria which were put into environments that included things they could use as food and things E. coli had never been able to metabolize; one strain emerged that could -- unlike any other strain of E. coli that has ever been observed -- thrive on a diet of citric acid. It would be analogous to a generation of human beings who could convert chalk dust into calories.
