It may have been intended to protect but the reality is it abuses

Is it really such a difficult concept for us to learn that if something is allowed to be done in secret it will end up abusing and harming.
If you are not crying reading those stories of people ripped from their families and friends then you cannot have a heart.

That's awful, truly wicked, keeping a poor bloke from seeing his wife
I once remember though Irn making a comment saying to the effect of ...put folk in care homes in prison and convicts in a care home,
That really stayed with me and I think it have some others something to think about too.

my goodness, how can stuff like this go on, we like to consider ourselves enlightened, civilised and at a drop of a hat you can be taken away and forcibly locked up, allegedly for your own good.
this is the same sort of thing that happens when people are forced in to treatments they do not want..

It has got nothing to do with treatments
It happens because the system allowed secrecy - if the court of protection had to act in public view these abuses would not happen because everyone would be able to see where people were being found incapable when that was not the case.

It does in a way, because by some seemingly good and legal decision, peoples rights are taken away, it all seems for the good of the individual yet in reality the individual and their rights are trampled..

Ignore the troll Sphinx.
The Courts of Protection and the Family Courts should not be held in secret. Their decisions can make for untold misery and they answer to no-one.

It is disgraceful that people have put in prison for taking their parents away from something hurting them - that people have been arrested for taking their parent for a day out, that a world class expert is rejected in favour of what seems little more than a lackey - the list goes on.

of course it is disgraceful but more and more decisions are being made on behalf of people that go against the individual rights, this is where it is all ultimately heading..
