Miliband rules out an EU referendum -

•Ed Miliband said only if UK forced to hand more powers to Brussels
•Wrote in Financial Times he thought that was 'unlikely' circumstance
•Senior Labour MPs, such as Ed Balls, have urged him for a referendum

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2578761/Miliband-rules-EU-referendum-Labour-leader-refuses-match-PMs-poll-pledge.html

Evidently Milly thinks he can negotiate with the EU to restrict freedom of movement and access to jobs - is he serious?!! There was a Labour MP on Sky News this morning who said he'd conducted a large poll of Labour voters on the EU. The result? 75% said they wanted to leave the EU altogether. More votes for UKIP. Nice one Ed.

No, he wouldn't negotiate restrictions on freedom of movement and access to jobs - he'd come away promising the EU more millions and more rule over the UK.

And there would still be no referendum, just like last time.

What Milibland has done is insult the British people again. I should think most Brits will wake up to this and sigh "not again".

I have a feeling we may see Milibland slip down the polls over the next year.

When are these established politicians going to either wake up and see reality or stop lying about reality.

EU rules cannot be renegotiated - they are written in perpetuity (unlike the British democratic model where no parliament can hold another parliament to its wishes)

There is also the small matter of the EU rules right from the start which oblige those in power to cover up how much power the EU has and divert attention away from negative effects by blaming them on something else, themselves if necessary.

Miliaband would lose more botes to UKIP over this IF most voters felt an EU referendum was the most important factor in how they vote. But polls show such a thing is usually far sown the list of priorities gor most voters, so I guess it wont have too much of an effect Wink

Sez you ~ and the "Daily Fail" which seems to often be the only reference you ever rely on !    lol!

"Nice one.." Tess !
"more rubbish from the Daily Fail...blah blah.." PATHETIC. Is that the only reply you ever rely on, loser? Here's the same story from the BBC.

Why don't you ever argue the points made, instead of just making silly insults? Oh I forgot, that takes a brain.

Some were saying yesterday that Ed Miliband didn't make Labour's position very clear.

BigAndy9 says it is very clear - Labour do not believe the British public are capable of deciding their own future - Labour are spitting on the British public and looking down on them.

That's right Andy, even some Labour MP's couldn't make much of it...

He did say something like should our relationship with Brussels change , then that would be the only way a referendum would happen.

But the Tories ain't much better, they don't want one full stop..and the only reason they have even considered one is because of UKIP , and pinching Tory voters.

Well now - that's original!

The Tories are very clear - vote for them and we will get to decide - now that's democracy.

You haven't fallen for Cameron's spin have you Andy?  He said after they've negotiated changes from Brussels he'll hold a referendum - he has no intention of ever having a referendum; he'll use carefully worded spin to give that impression, but the only party who will have a referendum is UKIP.

I hope that does happen Tess. I hope the Tories get in this time, don't hold a referendum, then let's see what happens  Smile

Miliband plays a shrewd hand on Europe
Labour party’s EU policy has outsmarted the Tories

Ever since David Cameron promised last year to hold a referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU by 2017, voters and businesses have been wondering how the opposition Labour party would respond to the prime minister’s flung-down gauntlet. Would both main parties go into the next election with toe-to-toe promises of an in-out poll on Europe?...

Miliband has got it right in that he has exposed David Cameron as a weak leader who has had his arm twisted up his back by Nigel Farage and some members of his own party to do what he said he wouldn't do around 18 months ago when he said there would be no referendum unless there were further transfers of powers to Brussels. That's exactly the same position as Miliband is taking now and he knows full well that Cameron's ploy is just a stunt to try to avoid a transfer of voters to UKIP.
There is absolutely no chance that the UK electorate will vote to leave Europe but the voters do have a vote on this and that will be at the next general election. Vote Tory to stay in Europe. Vote Labour to stay in Europe. Vote for whoever you want because whatever happens we will be part of the EU for many years to come.

So the people want a referendum - hence why they are all chatting about UKIP?

And "Dave" has listened and promised a referendum?

Do you know what - I remember 2 years ago you lot laughing about all the "U-turns" the Conservatives were doing and I wondered what was so wrong about that.

Blummin heck I thought, a government listening to the people and changing their policies because the people want that, and they still laugh?! Weird.
