'Our son cheated on his wife after she gave birth - so we cut him out of the will'
An anonymous mother who is ashamed at her son's behaviour after he cheated on his wife and left her to look after their three-month-old baby has taught him a lesson he'll never forget
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/our-son-cheated-wife-after-26393063
Are the parents right to do this or is the punishment too harsh?
A man who cheated on his wife has been taught a lesson by his mortified mum and dad when they took him out of their will.
The man's mum, who posted anonymously on Reddit, said she disappointed in her son when he divorced his wife, with whom he shared a baby, after having an affair.
She added he'd cheated when their baby was just three months old, Bored Panda reports.
In a post on Reddit, the anonymous mum says her son decided to move to another town with the woman he'd cheated with, leaving his ex-wife to care for the baby.
She wrote: "Both me and his dad are ashamed seeing how our daughter-in-law is struggling to cope with everything happening in her life, while trying to care for a new baby."
So, to teach her son a lesson and make sure they supported their daughter-in-law, the parents made a difficult decision.
They took their son out of the will and replaced him with their daughter-in-law and grandchild instead.
The mum writes: "We decided to cut him off of the will and put everything we planned towards our daughter-in-law and grandbaby.
"My son heard about this arrangement from his sister and is going on a campaign to guilt and shame me and my husband for the decision we've made."

I think it's brilliant. Sounds to me like they raised a me-first, self-centered little shit and it's past time they did something like this. I do have to wonder, though, whether they raised him right.

Absolutely, cut him adrift and concentrate on the daughter in law and grandchild.
Parents you've gone wrong somewhere or maybe he's just a natural selfish brat.

Hmmm....so mum is punishing her son by withdrawing his 'inheritance' from him.
I'm not a fan of using money to reward or punish family members, to be honest.
My advice would be, think about it, no need to act in anger.
Hopefully she won't be dying in the next few years.
Her son, IF she has the full picture, has certainly acted very badly, but it's possible the ex daughter in law will eventually remarry, move away, deny the mil access to her grandson, ....who knows what the future holds?
I have made a will, and after me and OH are gone, son and Grandsons will share what we leave.

I find your points very interesting Syl and I agree with them on reflection.
To be honest, if that were my son I’d be very unhappy with him and also disappointed but he’s still my son, and I’d have to hear his side.
It’s not like he beat and murdered someone.

I agreed with the mother initially, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that while it's all good and well to punish her son for his behaviour, the mother really should have looked at whether she and her husband failed their son.
I bet there was something he learned from his parents -- whether they intended it or not -- that contributed to how he acted. I could be wrong, but people do tend to repeat the patterns they learned from their parents.

There are normally three sides to every story, both parties and then the truth This one has four sides but we are only hearing one side.
I wonder what the truth of the matter is.
My son split up with his -I thought- perfect wife. I was very disappointed as I thought he was very happy, but like many people, he hid his pain behind a smile and just got on with it. My son had always wanted children but his wife had a few abortions while in the marriage .. he left after the last one and never told anyone the reason for a very long time.
I left my first husband and got it from all sides as he "was so lovely and so kind" only he wasn't it was all show for other people.
we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors

Hello Lolly, good to see you back. Your post was a great example of “we never really know what’s going on unless we are there...”

Imo the mother should make sure the daughter in law is supported in whatever way she can and perhaps a savings account for the grandchild and/or an amount left directly to the grandchild but not to cut your own child out of your will because ''things didn't work out'' wtf???

I agree. But first find out if your son is a fuck up...
