Another woman murdered as she walked to meet a friend.
"The family of primary school teacher Sabina Nessa have said they are “shocked” by her brutal murder and are still struggling to understand how she did not make it home safely.
Ms Nessa, 28, was taking a five-minute walk to meet a friend at The Depot bar in Pegler Square near her home in Kidbrooke, south-east London, on September 17 at around 8.30pm when she was attacked.
A member of the public found her body close to the OneSpace community centre in Cator Park on Saturday at around 5.30pm."

Re: Another woman murdered as she walked to meet a friend.
Sice the murder of Sarah Everard in March, an average of two women a week have been murdered by males in England and Wales.
Crimes committed by partners, ex-partners, or stalking strangers who take the opportunity to rape or murder innocent women as they go about their business.
Seems like all the vigils, the campaigns, the publicity, and the outrage....count for nothing.

More likely a 'stalking stranger', at this point. Not the best part of London. Police say: "A number of crime scenes are in place and enquiries are ongoing." https://www.mylondon.news/news/south-london-news/i-thought-safe-area-its-21620407

It looks like it could be Quill.
"So far two men have been arrested on suspicion of Nessa’s killing but have been released pending further investigations."
"Police are still working on the possibility that Nessa was killed by a stranger, a fact which complicates the investigation. “If this is a stranger-perpetrated murder, it is much more difficult for the police,”

Let's not forget the importance of commas when discussing potential murder suspects, i.e.:
"It looks like it could be, Quill"
vs.
"It looks like it could be Quill"

If the best you can do is comment on my punctuation rather than the topic, and then get a pathetic 'like' from your wife....
I will leave you both to it.
Goodnight.

It was only because it made me laugh, Syl.
Can’t help if something makes me laugh. I’m not uptight and can still appreciate a funny comment even in a serious topic. Lighten up!
On topic, what struck me as wholly horrible about this, is that the woman was literally five minutes away from her destination. Five minutes! That’s just somehow very chilling.

But...how did she end up in Cantor Park? The pub where she was heading - The Depot - is down the street and across Kidbrooke Park Rd. It was not even in her path...someone would have had to drag/carry her there.
Also, police are speculating that it happened Friday night, and she was only discovered on Saturday:
Very strange.

Looks like this bastard was waiting for her specifically... He smacked her over the head with a hammer and then sling her over his shoulder and wet off with her.

Let's hope the man who has now been arrested is the right one.

I find it irritating that when I am one of the few remaining posters who can be bothered to start newsworthy threads, the only comment Ben can make is about a bleeding missing comma.
Your 'like'....just made it doubly irritating.

The fact that her body was found in Cantor Park augers in that direction. Plus...24 hours. Almost as if she was killed elsewhere, and the body dumped in a 'nearby' public place. If it was a crime of opportunity why take the time and effort to move her body (alive or dead) to the park.
On the other hand, who would risk detection out in the open, when there are plenty of different places where, if you knew her, that it could be done?

Man charged with murder.
Koci Selamaj, originally from Albania, but living in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
It seems like he had traveled a long way just to be hanging around outside this womans block of flats, just for it to be a random attack.

But does he have any connection with the victim? Without that connection, it would have to be a random crime of opportunity.
On the other hand - working off the idea of a crime of opportunity - was anything of value taken off her person? Or, evidence of a sexual assault?

In fairness to Ben - and you as well - Ben is a journalist. In the world of journalism, a missing comma is something that a professional would notice. Journalism, inter alia, is the art of saying as much as you can, with as few words as possible (to fit in a single newspaper column). Punctuation becomes that much more important. You can tell...it's an 'insiders' joke. Ben wasn't criticizing you, as much as he was recalling his days in Journalism 101 class...and chuckling at himself - perhaps for how often that rule is broken.
So I don't think you should be as hard on Ben - or yourself - as it wasn't his intent to ridicule you. It was about himself. It was just an oft-broken rule one recalls in one's younger, wide-eyed student days.
