30,000-year-old giant virus 'comes back to life'
An ancient virus has "come back to life" after lying dormant for at least 30,000 years, scientists say. It was found frozen in a deep layer of the Siberian permafrost, but after it thawed it became infectious once again.
The French scientists say the contagion poses no danger to humans or animals, but other viruses could be unleashed as the ground becomes exposed.
Professor Jean-Michel Claverie, from the National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS) at the University of Aix-Marseille in France, said: "This is the first time we've seen a virus that's still infectious after this length of time."

I think they should leave these things alone!

We're not leaving them alone, though:
Climate change has melted the permafrost these buildings were built upon in Alaska out from under them; permafrost is melting just like the ice caps.

Yeah, climate change makes so much money! They still have a long ways to go before they hit these levels, though:
Re: 30,000-year-old giant virus 'comes back to life'
Well now, we could do with a good epidemic, reduce the population a bit. Hopefully it will be something that targets the political attitude of its potential victim...Ideally it would attack anyone suffering from PC itis, closely followed by those showing signs of political outrage that they are (they say) being screwed over by the "shirkers", whilst at the same time being able to ignore that tax frauds committed by their lords and masters....
THAT should reduce the population to a healthy level of healthy minded individuals.....

NO, dickbrain...
The "bullshit" is that stuff that you you filled your brainpan with, after your brains had rotted away from an obvious lack of use...
You probably mistake it for excessive earwax whenever it's leaking out..
Go put a duck in a microwave.

Yeah....anyone remember when the scientists were saying that acid rain would destroy the planet? What happened to it?
Then there were butterflies in the UK that started to decline in numbers due to so called climate change.... funny enough the're back! What a surprise.
Anyone seen the ads on TV to help save the elephants .... you have to send x-amount of money per month. Oh...wait a minute the King of Spain is in court charged with killing elephants for sport.
It's all about the money baby.
(How's that duck doing?)

Reagan fixed acid rain (at least in the U.S., with a cap and trade program) and I don't recall anyone saying it was going to "destroy the planet" in the first place.
Butterflies, as insects, turn over generations much faster than, say, human beings, and are indeed showing strong signs of evolving to adapt to climate change: http://www.nerc.ac.uk/press/releases/2011/30-butterfly.asp?cookieConsent=A
What the fuck does the King of Spain going elephant hunting have to do with the global average temperature going up and up?

Nothing, but it highlights the money scams. Try and keep up Ben.
