Nope, it was written by Burt Bacharach, and Dionne Warwick insists it was written for her.
We saw her in concert a few years ago and she was complaining that a lot of her songs were rushed out by other artists and they had the hits with them not her.
She was robbed.
Cilla Black had the hit here and Cher sang that version in the film 'Alfie'.

Guess the US and UK versions were released about the same time.
Never saw the movie and don't really remember the song, but it reminds me of "Downtown" by Petula Clark.

No Maddog!
“The sound of silence” cover is just awful! I hate it.
I love Cody Jinx but I don’t like his cover version of “Wish you were here” better than the original. Having said that, that man has a lovely voice.

I sorta like the "disturbed" cover. And I don't usually like stuff like that. I like music that makes me think, but not get angry. I admit it has an angry tone.
I guess because I'm a backwards ass country fuck, I usually prefer songs where men sing a few octaves lower, like Cody Jinks.

It’s an Adele song. The creativity and the vocals are simply stunning.

I had to look up the original.
Never listened to any Coldplay.
Willie covers pretty much anything good, but I think his greatest contribution is his song writing skills. And his ability to cross genres.

Kind of a half cover. The original artists are singing backup.

Yeah, we generally call it swing dancing or jitterbug.
I can do most of it except the aerials. That requires a light woman, who is sorta strong and knows what she is doing.
Me and my youngest could do them if we practiced a little.
Maybe for our dance at her wedding?

Yes practice, and post a video of it in the private bit ...that will be fun.

I think his voice is priceless, one of the most unique in any genre. But I have heard some who say they really don't like it; I guess it's a love it or hate it thing.

Pink Floyd will never perform again.
But their phenomenal music continues with the amazing Brit Floyd.

He's not what you would call a strong vocalist.
I don't dislike his voice, I just lean towards lyrics over vocal ability. That's where I think his talent lies.
Take the song "Crazy". It's a great song because of the lyrics and melody, but Willie would tell you Patsy sang it far better than him.

Actually, he sings (places his voice) perfectly. It's his nasal speech or resonance that gives him that special sound. It's called a Texas Twang.
There are many accents referred to as nasal—Minnesota, Liverpool, Michigan, Long Island, etc. But they are rarely referred to as “twangs”. The Texas twang has a low, flat-vowel draw associated with the deep south, only with a strong nasal placement.
Ft Worth, Texas had a slogan: Where the West Begins, and that appears to be the case with accents. If you’re in Lubbock or Amarillo or Midland/Odessa, you are definitely in the West. If you’re in Tyler or Longview or Houston, or even Dallas, you’re in the South.
I've always loved Willie Nelson.

The Clash song is on my Playlist for my bike rides. Bobby McGee is one of my favorite songs.
Strange thing about Amy Winehouse was I never heard of her until I saw she died (probably over on dogs). I listened to some of her music and realized much of it was a throwback to the 60s. What a shame. Pretty sure she never made it out of her 20s, like Janis who made the song Bobby McGee famous.

Originally CCR had it as pane, short for propane and Tina changed it to tane for Octane.

Janis had some good pipes. I love Lord Won’t You Buy Me a Mercedes Benz.
Amy was very talented but couldn’t get off the drugs. Valerie, Rehab and Back to Black are my favorites of hers.

This is pretty close to my all time favorite cover. Sum 41 kicked it out of the ballpark. Metallica fans are not easy to please.

I loved this track from her Back to Black CD....her voice here reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald's.
