The Sun - readers comments.
Has anyone else noticed that the readers comments box has gone from the Sun online?
Possibly because the readers invariably disagreed with the salacious and jaundiced columns from senile hacks, together with appalling journalism.

Nope.
But I'm pretty sure I'm responsible for the SOL forum being removed.
Those were some fun days. That really was a fun and active place with some weird characters.

Were you on The Mirror forum Maddog? I think that's possibly the busiest forum I have been on...it was brilliant.
I know we have both been on Dogs but possibly at different times because we dont remember one another from there.

I was never on the Mirror. SOL was a blast and I think it had a more international flavor because the SUN is read so many places. I don't think I've ever read The Mirror.
I met Stoo, Shine, Budgie and Shell on SOL.
As well as many others from all over the world.
It was a shame when they shut it down. I don't even really remember why.

The Sky news forum was really big years ago, but the Madeleine McCann threads got it closed down for good.

I actually talked to Shell on the phone a few times.
Shine was a bat shit crazy. We got along fine until he found out I hunted. Then he declared me enemy of the world.

Yeah...that whole thing was very fishy and Sky was ultra weird about it when I contacted them.
What was your username on Sky?

Re: The Sun - readers comments.
I've seen more and more news outlets getting rid of commenting below articles. I think it's partly due to the shitstorm arguments that erupt, but also partly because now they post their big stories to Facebook and people comment there instead of on the news site.

Shell had a great accent, she posted a couple of vids where she was talking.
Shine drove away from forums one of the lovliest posters ever, Beamglow, she was a Mirror poster.

Pretty sure Gelico was Gelico on Sky. I was only there about 8 months before it closed too. Most distinctly remember Keith/Adrian Mole/Anthony Gethrin and Class Vixen dominating the place

Yeah, she was from Missouri, but the southern part near Arkansas. She had a nice southern drawl.
Shine could get pretty repulsive with the women. Pretty sure he was a bipolar alcoholic.

Yeah, the end was in the cards, but SOL shut down before Facebook was really as pervasive as it was. I think there might have been legal reasons based on people harassing other posters.
Drudge got many Americans on SOL, because they linked stories to The Sun.
That's how I got on to forums with Brits.
