A briefing scheduled for President Biden this afternoon outlines the need for 20,000 beds to shelter an expected crush of child migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: The rapid influx of unaccompanied children is becoming the administration's first new crisis. A presentation created by the Domestic Policy Council spells out the dimensions with nearly 40 slides full of charts and details.

It's a wonderful turn-around. Because of Trump and his fascist immigration policies, the Biden administration had decided to over-compensate. First, they are paying to find and import all of the families of kids held hostage by the separation policies of Trump. They will open doors to give them the life they so richly deserve.

Second, they are opening up the borders to give asylum-seekers the chance to have a life here. No cages. No lock-ups. No more "illegal" aliens.

Third, they will develop fair standards for immigration, and pass an Immigration Bill that is fair and just, no matter if they are from "shitholes" or Norway. https://www.vox.com/2018/1/11/16880750/trump-immigrants-shithole-countries-norway

They are becoming Americans, soon to have homes, jobs and education. Wonderful.

I don't expect Republicans to cheer. They are consumed with xenophobia...and loss of more votes. But for America, it's great.

Today, the president will be told the number of migrant kids is on pace to exceed the all-time record by 45% — and the administration doesn't have enough beds.

It's a work in progress. But the Democrats now control the Executive Department, the House, and they have a narrow grip on the Senate (I don't know about Joe Manchin). They should be able to get an Immigration Bill through.

They didn't get one through when Obama was president.

Well, the Obama administration had a Republican House, and in the second term, a Republican House and Senate. With a divided government, no project could get done. It became the government of 'NO', or the obstructionist legislature.

At least now they have all three centers.

That's true, but there are priorities. The first two years they were working on finally getting America up to speed on healthcare. Because of Republicans, there's a lot of catching up to do.

Guess they couldn't multi task. It's a shame because I think the Dems could have actually fixed immigration, or at least improved the problem.

Now we're back to kids crashing the border and a humanitarian crises trying to deal with them.

I'm not altogether a real fan of Democrats. When it comes to tactics, they could learn from Republicans: fook 'em, pull the trigger. And, organizing Democrats is like herding cats.

But when it comes to aims, Democrats are the only real party in town. Republicans are in a constant, selfish free-for-all.

From CNN today: The number of unaccompanied migrant children in US Border Patrol facilities intended for adults climbed on Tuesday, surpassing record highs from the previous day, according to new figures reviewed by CNN. More than 3,400 unaccompanied migrant children were in Customs and Border Protection custody, according to the data dated Tuesday.

It's a challenge. Perhaps FEMA has temporary facilities with which they can help. Caring for 3,400 should be easy for them.
