Nigeria farm massacre sees 43 workers killed as president slams 'insane' attack
AT least 43 farmers and fisherman have been savagely butchered and some beheaded in Nigeria by armed men on motorcycles who were suspected Islamist maniacs.
The workers had been tied up before having their throats slit in the horrific in Borno state in a weekend of killing that has left at least 110 dead.
The attack is believed to have been blamed on the Boko Haram jihadist group left at least 110 dead, the UN humanitarian coordinator in the country said today.
Edward Kallon said in a statement, after initial tolls indicated 43 and then at least 70 dead from yesterday’s massacre by suspected Boko Haram fighters.
He said: "At least 110 civilians were ruthlessly killed and many others were wounded in this attack.
"The incident is the most violent direct attack against innocent civilians this year.
"I call for the perpetrators of this heinous and senseless act to be brought to justice."
The bloodletting centred on the village of Koshobe near the Borno state capital Maiduguri, with the killers targeting farm workers on rice fields, with a pro-government anti-jihadist militia saying the assailants tied up the labourers and slit their throats.
Kallon said the assailants — "armed men on motorcycles" — also targeted other communities in the area.

Anyone can make things up. My god, we've just ousted a president who held that windmills cause cancer...and 4,000 other lies. It's about time we started placing the premium on proof, rather than self-interested speculation.

You would know.

We have only the word of this guy, Edward Kallon, a UN representative. Nobody listens to the UN anymore. They are an 'interested' player, with vested interests just like the various nations that are members.
It used to be that terrorists would jump to claim responsibility, and advertise their efficacy. Sometimes they even claim responsibility, when it is clearly a natural catastrophe or another cause. But you can’t bring forward anyone?
Again, where is the proof? If there is proof--and I don't deny there could be--why hide it? It appears that if you are anti-Islamist, you jump on the train and take it for a ride for mere sympathy sake. Like so many things these days, you don't wait for proof, but grasp things that suit your ideology. It’s political.

Sourcess who, themselves, have no original sources. Why don't they call it what it is...a rumor. If so, they would give proper indication that it is someone's speculation, not fact.
Media outlets like the The Sun try to 'window-dress' their stories with evasive verbs and adjectives that suggest rock-solid sources, but they don't actually have validity. This is a case in point. Who is this twerp with some kind of UN badge, and why should I listen to him?

Ben, Quill ruins your forum with the crap like he's pulling on this thread.
This event happened, and arguing about whether it happens wastes everyone's time and causes them to move on.

ABUJA, Nigeria
At least 44 farmers were killed Saturday by Boko Haram terrorists in northeastern Nigeria, according to representatives from the village where the attack occurred.
Former head of Borno Farmers Union Hassan Zabarmari said farmers working in rice fields in the Garin Kwashebe village of Borno state were attacked by the terror group.
He noted several others were injured.
A member of the House Representatives in Garin Kwashebe, Ahmed Satomi, also confirmed the attack and said security forces were dispatched to the region.

This is a southerner who has reached his intellectual capacity.
To recap: Back in the day, Northerners developed mercantile and manufacturing economies, and meanwhile sharpened their intellectual skills. They had to in order to survive. Southerners, on the other hand, let the "negros" do the work, sat on antebellum porches and fried their brains drinking mint julips, and allowed their intellectual capacities wither and become useless.
Now southerners have two gears: (1) be polite and tolerate the conversation up to their limited capacity to understand and reason (which isn’t very far); and (2) grow angry and start Civil Wars. That’s what they did in 1860, and that’s what they do today, with their guns and marches and black lives don’t matter!. You have just witnessed a southerner crossing that threshold.
I feel sorry for them. They were born into a zeitgeist that doesn’t permit growth. But we don’t have time, and the only answer is to let them go. Amexit.

That's the problem, tom. You don't have facts, you don't have proof. So, you (or The Sun) will accept the word of some UN dufus with a bias, or the hearsay of some soldiers, who are themselves on the other side!
I've put up with my own country doing this shit for decades: those evil commie bastards stole our A-bomb and now are threatening us with it! No bigger picture. No enlightened reasoning. Just 'us' and 'them', and repeat the same old crap you’ve heard for 60-years. I got bored with it...it's so patently false.
That's what you're doing, tom. You're just spinning the wheel of the most mundane, self-perpetuating tripe: "As I said... Widely reported!" As if hearsay opinion will substitute for real proof.
What is it you're so fond of saying? Waffle!

Had they captured the villains and they admitted who they were, it would be the best evidence. And, even circumstantial evidence would do…say, they all had backpacks that identifyed them.
But: if you hadn’t even seen a girl in over a year, would you believe it was your baby she was carrying? Pshaw…

Did you witness it? If yes, then that's not hearsay. Anything else is hearsay.
Have you talked to or heard from the person who witnessed it? If so, is it from a credible reporter? If not, it's gossip.

As entertaining as this has not been to read, is there any way we could sort of bring the thread back on track?
Yes, Quill is being quite obstinate and rather unreasonable in his questioning of what are most likely solid sources of information on this attack. But he is right in that anything you weren't there to witness is questionable -- even if the witnesses are generally reliable.
Tommy and Maddog, you've both questioned the veracity of various news stories that have been posted here before. People do tend to question whether claims they'd prefer not to believe are true, and I've seen both of you do it, along with Quill.
But this is getting tiresome, so I suggest you all drop it and move on, as you've made your points abundantly. If you have anything else to say besides "It's not true"/"It's true," then feel free.
