Trump fires Secretary of Defense
Trump has fired Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. What for? In some 70-days he won't have any authority.
I know that the Esper/Trump relationship had deteriorated this past summer, but what does it matter now?

That's one theory...and I tend to agree with it.
But there is always a possibility that he is planning a war, or disabling the US preparedness, helping the Chinese take over Taiwan or the Russians take back Ukraine.
What's curious were Esper's parting remarks. He said he would not compromise his integrity...whatever that means. All we can infer is that Trump demanded he do something, and he refused.

If you're going all crazy why not suggest Trump asked him to help organize a military coup. Transfer some Marines up from Parris Island and surround the White House.

Indeed, why not? It's exactly the kind of thing that Trump, with Putin's backing, would try and do. Remember, this is the president that took child abuse to extremes, and removed 666 children from parents' arms...some of them nursing infants. A military coup would be a cake-walk for this guy.
But prudence dictates that we wait until we learn more facts. These 71-days are the most crucial to world peace, whether we know it or not.

Re: Trump fires Secretary of Defense
There's been speculation about this ranging from he's planning an invasion of Iran, to he's going to try to use the military to help keep him in office.
It's getting worse, as he's installing loyalists throughout the Pentagon.
But ultimately, the constitution is in charge and the constitution, not Trump or Biden, is what these people swore an oath to defend.

He's installing loyalists everywhere that's civil service and are harder to remove.
Like they all have done. It's a parting shot to the new administration and pay off for loyalty.

Re: Trump fires Secretary of Defense
I just heard an interview with Gen. Barry McCaffery. a highly decorated 4-star General, now retired, and member of the Council on Foreign relations, and Associate of the Inter-American Dialogue, and former Director of National Drug Policy.
His words were direct: "If I were a member of the CIA, looking at a 3rd-world nation making all of these moves, my assessment would be that a coup is about to take place."
But his final judgment is that the Joint Chiefs of Staff will never let that happen. Oh, and um, Trump was supposed to have no chance to win in 2016. Gd luck JCOS.
