Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
Police have launched a murder hunt as one man dies and a man and woman are in a serious condition in hospital, other people have also been treated in hospital for stab wounds.
"Police are hunting a single suspect after a series of stabbings in Birmingham city centre early on Sunday.
One man died, another man and a woman suffered serious injuries, while five others received injuries which were not thought to be life-threatening.
Chief Superintendent Steve Graham said victims appeared to be attacked at random, but there was "absolutely no suggestion" they were terror-related.
West Midlands Police want anyone with CCTV or mobile footage to contact them.
They said police were at scenes across the city, including Livery Street, Irving Street and Hurst Street.
Ch Supt Graham, responsible for policing in Birmingham, said: "The events during the early hours of this morning are tragic, shocking and understandably frightening.
"It does appear to be a random attack because we haven't found any links between the victims, either in their nature or in where they were socialising.
"Please be assured that we are doing absolutely everything we can to find whoever was responsible and try to understand what exactly happened.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website or call 101."

Re: Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
The police haven't said much so far.
I have seen and heard a couple of reports of people who were there saying guns and gangs were involved.
There was apparently trouble brewing before this happened and it seemed to be racially motivated.

Re: Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
From what I have seen on news, it appears to have been one man who stabbed a number of people in random attacks while traveling south across the city.
The police haven't released any description or any information on what they think the motive might be.

Re: Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
Have they mentioned this was a possible racist or homophobic attack?
People who claim to be there have, but so far the police have not said much.
There were lots of people milling around, must have been caught on countless CCTV's too.

Re: Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
A man has been arrested, not many details given yet.
The police are being criticised for not responding sooner, and so allowing this man to wander round for up to 2 hours stabbing people at random.
But surely, if todays society didn't live their lives looking through a mobile phone screen, members of the public could have also acted in detaining him and stopping his murderous spree.

Still not much news other than he has been named and charged with murder and 7 counts of attempted murder.
The poor young lad who was murdered has also been named.

Re: Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
So he was a black man. Did he attack any other black people? If not, one might assume it was racially motivated.
But let’s not loot and burn stuff in anyone’s name, right?

Get a pair of Ben's old underwear and burn them in the backyard. You can't just sit idly by. Nothing will change that way.

Re: Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
knives are causing too many deaths, i suggest we ban ALL knives, indeed any sharp implements except under licence.
that of course will include kitchen knives and cutlery.
All food willl be sold ready to heat and eat and will be eaten with a soft rubber spoon.
packaging is not a problem...thats what teeth are for.
even keys will be banned given that electronic locks are now so cheap.
No screw drivers ....
Of course if you want something shaping , like wood,or a screw screwing you will have to take it to your local licenced joiner (thats me of course) who naturally will charge you an arm and a leg (and has the sharp implements to remove said limbs.)
no nails/screws allowed to the public....see paragraph above...
all plates mugs etc will be made from soft plastic.

No... It is scumbags who are causing the damage...
They need tough police enforcement and tough jail terms!
Increase in stop and search plus the setting up of pop up stop and search zones in known trouble areas... With strict enforcement of mandatory minimum prison terms for anyone caught with an offensive weapon... 6 months for first time caught, then doubling every time caught thereafter...

Hey man, I need every pair of underwear I own, regardless of how holey they may be!

Re: Multiple stabbings in Birmingham.
nicko, imagine how quickly he could have been stopped if people with a licence to carry a knife/sword /whatever had been there.....I wouldnt want to have tackled him bare handed unless forced, but he wouldnt have stabbed many after meeting me with my (only carried when shooting on private land or fishing on private land where its lawful to posess) bowie knife.....99% of these shits dont really know how to use a knife in combat....
and the rules should be simple.....just like the medieval laws....the first to draw steel unlawfully hangs......regardless
