Woman told by police to cover up her F*** BORIS T shirt.
First topic message reminder :
So should wearing clothes with offensive slogans out in public be a chargable offence?
"An actor was stopped in the street by a police officer because she was wearing a strongly worded t-shirt.
Jessi-Lu Flynn was on Regents Street, London on Wednesday having just left the Black Lives Matter march.
The Shepherds Bush woman was stopped by a police officer who accused her of breaching the Public Order Act by wearing a t-shirt which read 'F*** Boris'.
In a video of the incident the actor and director asks the officer: "You think it's illegal for me to have this t-shirt on?"
The officer argues that it is "an offense to wear signs, visible representation that is likely to cause harassment on the streets."When Ms Flynn asks the officer who would be harassed by it, the officer says "people will find it offensive".
Eventually, after a further minute or so of back and forth, Ms Flynn agreed to zip her hoodie up.
The 1986 Public Order Act was amended in 2013 so it falls into line with Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights."

It was a couple of female posters on here who felt it offensive.
I wasn’t one of them. It’s a great word.
You wouldn't have objected Eddie, he made sure he didn't call it you....possibly because Ben would not have stood for it.
To be fair, this was back in the day when Ben and I weren’t together and I actually wouldn’t care if someone called me that word.

It's one of my favourite words too. I use it most often with friends and my husband lol
Odd really, since I'm not a fan of the source material...
Honestly, left to me I'd uncensor it.

You may not have been married but you were together.
Believe me, if anyone spoke to me that way in real life my OH would floor them so I can understand any mans reaction.
On here we women can stick up for ourselves, but that doesn't mean we accept being called c**ts by a sad little man.
Anyway....digressed off the origional point, which was walking around in public with the F word emblazened across your top is not acceptable to some, obviously it doesn't bother others, but it is against the law.

No, c u n t is used in a familiar way, it can be like a friendly greeting between to really good friends. It may be a generation thing. My mum hates the word.

Re: Woman told by police to cover up her F*** BORIS T shirt.
I just removed all word censorship. Abuses of words, such as calling fellow members a cunt in an unfriendly way, are still against the rules.

Using any word in a friendly way doesn't concern me at all, I am talking about the words being used as an insult, to a woman, with no other intention than to try and demean her, as happens so often on forums, this one included.
I am utterly amazed I have to spell it out Eddie, I think you, Ben, and everyone else who reads this and shakes their head in faux bewilderment are deliberately acting thick tbh.

I was quite happy with the word censorship on here... I think it was sensible to have it...
I am also quite happy that this woman in OP was told to cover up her offensive t shirt while walking along a busy shopping street...

I doubt very much that the law is to be used to stop you wearing that t shirt in your own back garden...
However if you were walking around with one saying "my neighbours are cünts" then the law could maybe be used for police action for that...
hahhahahahahaha
not sure why i found that so funny but it was
It would be a funny thing to do...!

Good. It was a pain in the ass to have to alter Sandra Bland, so as to avoid Sassy Bland. As far as 'cunt' is concerned, what are we a bunch of PC'ers? The site allows 'twat', which means the same thing. Idiocy!
If we ever go back, I want 'Tory' and 'Republican' stricken as naughty words, too.

Honestly Syl, if anyone uses this word in a nasty way towards you and you feel upset, please pm me or any other admin.
You have our word.

Re: Woman told by police to cover up her F*** BORIS T shirt.
People are such hypocrites about the issue of offensive speech.
Right-wingers will talk about "triggering snowflakes" but still get riled up about someone saying "Fuck Boris" or "Fuck Trump."
On the left, people will react with outrage as police bust up a peaceful BLM protest, but turn around and call for speakers to be banned from university campuses because they're right wing.
The concept of tolerating differing views, disagreeing at times, yet defending the right of all to free expression is a difficult idea for most people, it seems.

It doesn't upset me Eddie, it more bores me seeing the same abuse being churned out repeatedly.
As i said, it's not the words it's the way they are used.
I do wonder why so many female posters no longer post here now.
