The day after tomorrow...
What will it look like? They use the popular phrase, back to normal to describe returning to life before Covid-19, but experts remind us that it will be a new normal: nn-19.
So what will it look like? Will we have to wear facemasks everyday? Will we need to stay at least 6-ft away from each other. No kissing? No, mmmphing? Let's speculate. I say:
1. Birth rates will drop compared to before Covid-19 (bc-19). Intimacy is out of vogue.
2. The restaurant industry will drop. Fewer dining in. More take-out. Always a marginal industry anyway, restaurants will be less than 1/3'd the business it was bc-19. People won't want to mix and mingle.
3. Airlines will go out of business. People won't want to travel in close quarters. No matter how far apart they stand or sit in free air, it's still a cocoon within the aircraft.

Trump Republicans will do none of that. Natural selection will be in force.

Re: The day after tomorrow...
Cash so become obsolete.
So will small independent coffee shops.
Click and collect or home delivered groceries will become the norm.
We will become healthier through eating less junk food, takeaways and fry ups .
Unemployment will be 20%+.
Income tax will rise to 30%, with the starting threshold at £15k .
More will home work.
Petrol prices so slump even lower.
Food prices so rise as fruit and veg will rot on the vine.

Apart from the birth rate dropping and intimacy being out of vogue, (because sexual attraction, love and lust will always over ride common sense) I see the future looking exactly like you describe.Original Quill wrote:What will it look like? That was a difficult one. Here's my reasoning: we are being ingrained into staying apart, forever 6-feet, and that can't help but to raise questions in our heads, do I want to be this close to anyone?? That's gonna slow passions down...bring reason back. Reason is always a downer on lovemaking. It's the proverbial headache!
The sex drive is always there, only this time there is a little bit of putting on the brakes.

It already is, but with a new incentive: avoid disease-spreading coins and bills. Stores here in California are already telling us to use credit cards only, and operate the machines ourselves (so you get the virus, we don't).
But that does bring up another issue: the Credit Industry will receive a huge boost.
And banks are already dealing solely with new bills and coins. They will take in money (who won't), but immediately it goes into the laundry.

But, I can't help but think new industries will come along to prevent that.
Frozen food industry will receive a huge boost.

Well I think you are thinking this out with a mature head on your shoulders.
Rewind 2 or 3 decades and I bet hell nor high water would have stopped you being up close and personal with the one you fancied.

Well, but there's two thoughts behind that "Hmmm..." One, it's certainly true that I've slowed down a lot in my exploits. But two, the equation I described says, whatever the measure, there is now one more reason to say not tonight honey. However many less procreation's that results in, a population decline is inevitable.

It's a fathers occupation
to stick his cockulation
During virus home occupation
and a time of ovulation
in a woman's front ventilation
In an act of copulation
for a big ejaculation
of a productive insemination
to increase the population
of the younger generation
See what you are missing.

No doubt. So many women with the virus--some on ventilators--have to be given c-sections.

Horrific...as if giving birth isn't scary enough at the best of times, giving birth when you cant breathe properly would be a nightmare.
Hopefully the babies are born virus free.

Are they? I would expect they would be born with it, having been once a part of an infected being.
I don't know. But, for example, children of mothers who have HIV are born infected.

I haven't heard any reports of babies being born with the virus.
Just had a google, it seems to be one more thing about this virus that cant be pinned down....so there is no definitive answer as yet.

It's visceral. Who wants to kiss if it will kill you?

Not now.
In fact I can't order a pack of 4 loo rolls from Adsa, they are only available in packs of 9 or 12.

Same here. Except my assistant was finally able to get packs of 6. Then she bought 4 of those!

Makes me glad I don't have an 'assistant' really.

I have no other term for her. She is a Thai woman, very diligent and dependable. She's part housekeeper, but then sometimes she fetches/delivers stuff for me, or just shops, runs errands, or simply accompanies me to physician appointments. She's more than a maid, but nothing personal. I call her my assistant, for lack of a better term.
