Where is nicko?
I don't' want to sound the alarm too early, but this is a time of crisis. Where is nicko? I think he's been missing for a couple of days.
Anyone know his number and can give him a call?

Agreed, quill is very caring, when he allows the curtain of political divides to become open
Hence I respect him for that

Re: Where is nicko?
Thanks for the kind words Quill, really appreciated. I woke up last Thursday Morning at around 2am fighting for Breath, Ambulance was called and Iwas admitted to Hospital. For a number of years I have had a Hiatus Hernia witch has caused some Chest pain and shortage of Breath. After X-Rays and other tests it was found that the Hernia had moved up and was pressing on my Diaphram witch in turn was pressing on my Lungs and making it hard to get enough air in, [very frightening] .For 3 days and nights I was on Oxygen, witch helped a little but still very hard to breath . Doctors said I'd have to see a Chest Specialist but because of the Virus I'd have to go home in case I caught it, at 79 it would be fatal . On Sunday evening breathing became easier and I returned Home. Now got to wait for further instructions

Bad luck, that hernia, nick. Bad timing, also, as hospitals now pose a threat.

I was scared just reading that, I can't imagine how it must have been to go through it. Really glad to hear you're home and you don't have the virus. But don't sell yourself short, dude -- if you did get it, my money would be on you.

Awake all Night again , hard to breath ,worst when lying down. No point in Ambulance, Hospital can't do anything. Don't know what to do.

Try not to lie flat. You may breathe easier propped up.
Plus, has the doctor put you on any inhalers?

Re: Where is nicko?
Saw an interesting breathing technique video from a doctor yesterday. He said that 70% of the lung is at the back. If you lay on your back you squeeze that part of the lung, restricting the capacity.
It suggested laying on your front with your head raised by a couple of pillows. Give it a go, better than not doing anything mate.

Agreed. This is best with problems in the lungs
@Nicko you could also try some naps in an armchair, with then you being upright and thus making breathing slightly easier

Re: Where is nicko?
Hang in there Nicko, old mate, and get well soon.
I haven't been in here for a time, but Nicko has a good excuse and I don't...unless you'll accept a pretty prolonged and exceptionally deep bout of depression (to give it its correct title, in my case, diabetic distress) brought on by isolation.,
OK, so there's gorgeous countryside all around me and the weather has been great for my daily walks, but being surrounded by fields and woodland and having no-one to talk to face to face other than a lot of sheep; not being able to see my partner as we don't live together full time and not being able to hug my daughter and grandchildren all tend to outweigh the advantages of the usual peace and tranquility of the place.
And, of course, the virtual shut down of routine GP tests for the serious medical threats to long term diabetics ain't helping.
Hope the rest of you are all coping well. Just keep safe.

Moley
assess yourself (for diabetic threats)
you have a blood meter ?
take your readings 4 times a day and average them...aim for less than 9 if you can
check your feet....use a paint brush bristle and touch the soles on the ball of your big toe, the end of each toe and multiple places over the sole...if you cant feel it...talk to your doc.
check for the pulse below your inner ankle bone (look on the web to find the precise place)
check your vision for "missing bits ...close each eye in turn and look at a regular pattern (polka dots on a screen or such) stare at the center and observe if any bits in your field of vison are missing.....if in doubt, again talk to your doc.
if your vision changes noticeably for no reason (i.e you are not stoned...) call the doc....

I know this may sound a bit crass, but I have found posting on forums, where people we don't know can enter into all manner of debate, can often help if you are feeling down.
It's hard being separated from loved ones, but it wont last for ever, and think of the fun you will have together once you do meet up again.

Nicko, like someone else pointed out, it could make breathing easier for you if you lay on your front.nicko wrote:Awake all Night again , hard to breath ,worst when lying down. No point in Ambulance, Hospital can't do anything. Don't know what to do.
I have noticed that when cameras go into ICU's lots of the patients are positioned on their fronts with their heads tilted sideways.

You have just described my dilemma with living in the country. I love it there, but I know not having people around would make me not stay home, and take advantage of living in the country. I would start to neglect the place.
Got to have some human interaction to go with the interaction of nature and all it offers.
Always respected Thoreau, but not sure how he did Walden's Pond. Guess he looked at as a test, and not a way to lead your life forever.
Anyway, keep walking and keep moving. It's good for your soul and spirits in spite of the separation from loved ones.
