A former Deutsche Bank executive who signed off on several controversial loans to Donald Trump killed himself in his Malibu home earlier this month.
Thomas Bowers, 55, hanged himself on November 19 at his beachside home. The banker was not working for Deutsche Bank at the time.
He is among a handful of people who signed off on loans totaling $2billion to Trump in the decades before he became president, even after other institutions turned him down.

In September, a banker named Aivar Rehe was found dead and ruled a suicide; his bank was in the midst of a money-laundering scandal involving Russia. His body was discovered the same day that German police raided Deutsche Bank and seized files.

Those loans, based on timing, were before the financial loans inspired by Russia in and around 2008.  Those were the loans leading up to Russian involvement, near as I can figure.

Deutsche Bank, had advanced construction financing on a Chicago project, Trump Tower-Chicago.  Donald had given a personal guarantee on the loan, and when the project went south, Deutsche Bank sued Trump in around 2008.  The amount in controversy was about $640-million.  Based on timing, those would be the funds in question here.

Now, most suspect that Trump was into money laundering at that time, so that doesn't clear Bowers of wrongdoing.  But it hit a new level of criminal activity when the Moscow branch got involved.  But obviously someone is getting close to something.
