Possible link between fracking and childhood cancer to be studied by U.S. state
HARRISBURG (KDKA/AP) — Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf says his administration will spend $3 million on a pair of studies to explore the potential health impacts of the natural gas industry.ADVERTISING
Wolf is taking action after months of impassioned pleas by the families of pediatric cancer patients who live in the most heavily drilled region of the state.
Dozens of children and young adults have been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma and other forms of cancer in a four-county area outside Pittsburgh.
Ewing has no known environmental cause, but the families have been pressing the Wolf administration for an investigation into any possible link between this extremely rare form of bone cancer and shale gas development.
Wolf says the research will address “the concern that there is a relationship between hydraulic fracturing and childhood cancers.”

I'm sure we'll hear that the U.S. government will immediately ban fracking. Someone will probably say something like,
"We are looking at fracking very strongly. It's very dangerous. Children have died, people have died. ... We're going to have some very strong rules, regulations, and more important I think we're going to have some very important information come out very shortly."

You live in one of the most heavily fracked areas on the planet. I don't doubt that there is a higher rate of cancer outside of Pittsburgh. God knows what's buried there.

Fracking remains totally unnecessary, with no real world practical needs to justify it's use in gas (natural gas, LPG, and "Coal Seam gas"..) extraction processes...
It only exists to facilitate a few greedy corporatist bastards to harvest that gas much more quickly, making them more money in the short run -- instead of letting it leak naturally over a few decades (the way extraction was done for more than a century..).
Never mind the fucked over environments, the broken local economies, devastated communities, promised jobs that never arrived, and the inevitable health impacts from millions of tonnes of highly toxic chemicals flooding the aquifers.
Just as long as the greed-fuelled "free market" capetbagger gas companies can reap their short term profits before swanning off to new 'green field' sites, and their corrupt puppet governments have those extra royalties to boost their pork barrelling efforts and glitzy projects in far away capital cities..
