Tax expert who lost her job for 'transphobic' tweet takes case to employment tribunal Empty Tax expert who lost her job for 'transphobic' tweet takes case to employment tribunal

Atax expert who lost her job for tweeting that transgender women are not women yesterday took her case to an employment tribunal arguing that her dismissal amounted to discrimination against her beliefs.

Maya Forstater, 45, lost her job from the Centre for Global Development (CGD) in March this year after she was accused of publishing offensive tweets questioning government proposals to allow people to self-identify as the opposite sex.

The unprecedented legal dispute will act as an important test case in the UK on whether having ‘gender critical’ beliefs - the view that one’s sex is a biological fact which cannot be changed - is a protected belief under the Equality Act 2010.

“If we can establish this point in law it would help people who are currently afraid to speak up for fear of losing their jobs or being treated differently by their employer,” Ms Forstater wrote in a blog post.

This case is so out there it beggars belief. That someone can lose their job over stating biological facts on twitter. Thatto do so offends some trans people based on sex being binary and a view that trans women cannot be female. Not I say some trans people, as many transsexuals support this position. As they rightly do as their changce is based on a binary sex position

The defence even tried to argue that because of intersex, (which has nothing to with Trans people) makes sex a spectrum. Which is even more absurd and claiming the biological reality of sex as binary is pusdeo science
Yep you cannot make it up, but this case is important. That people promoting scientific views, could be classed with hate speech and that in reality this needs a protection in law. As to claim a biological reality is hate speech is beyond absurd
