The Limeys killed our fine lad Jeffery!!!!
In a leaked video released Tuesday, ABC News anchor Amy Robach said the network killed her story on wealthy pedophile Jeffrey Epstein under pressure from the British royal family.
Robach, sitting at the ABC anchor desk but apparently speaking to colleagues off-air, was expressing frustration that the network did not air her 2015 interview with Virginia Giuffre, who said she was coerced into a sexual relationship with Epstein when she was a teenager. Among other men whom she accused of abusing her when she was 17 was Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth’s second son.
ABC News also declined to air the interview a few months later when Giuffre filed a defamation suit against Ghislaine Maxwell, who has been accused of recruiting girls for Epstein to abuse. Maxwell is the daughter of British publishing magnate Robert Maxwell, who drowned under suspicious circumstances in 1991. Maxwell has denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes.
Giuffre alleges that Epstein told her to have sex with Prince Andrew, hedge fund billionaire Glenn Dubin, former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and former Democratic Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell.
“I was defeated, once again, by the very people I spoke out against, and once again, my voice was silenced,” Giuffre told NPR. “I could not believe that a formidable network like ABC had backed down and given in."

Re: The Limeys killed our fine lad Jeffery!!!!
There are lots of horror stories surrounding the deceased Jeffery Epstein. But since his death, they are in the past.
The contemporary question is, who killed Epstein? The evidence all points to the conclusion that it was not suicide or an accident.
The primary leads in all investigations, is motive and opportunity. Many people had motive, but opportunity narrows it a bit. Since he was being held in a federal corrections facility, his killer would have to be someone who had influence within the federal system at a high level.
Right now, we are experiencing a period of lawlessness in America. But there is no statute of limitations on murder. As soon as we have a Democratic administration we can chase down the truth in this matter.

First of all, the plural of "limey" is "limeys" with no apostrophe.
Secondly, "limey" is a racist slur against the British.

it's a pejorative, like the word redneck. And the British are not a race but a nationality.

Re: The Limeys killed our fine lad Jeffery!!!!
It's not really a horrible sin. The name comes from British sailors who were given citrus fruits (limes) to provide vitamin C to fend off scurvy. Long trips on ships tended to deprive the sailors of a proper diet, and limes made up for this deficiency.
In time, the term lost its naval connotation and was used to refer to British people in general, and in the 1880s, British immigrants in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It doesn't have the derogatory history of, say, racism or ethnic bigotry. It's no worse than yanks for Americans, imo.

Re: The Limeys killed our fine lad Jeffery!!!!
There is nothing really derogatory about the term "Limey"...
It is what the Aussies, Cannucks, Kiwis and Yanks often called their British allies during the World Wars, and carried over into civvy street afterwards, (with its origins in the British Navy -- as Quill noteed above..).
Any possible insults intended from the use of these words comes from the tone of voice of the person using it, and not from the word itself.
Any rate, the term "Pommie" is a much more commonly used pronoun for Brits down here -- shortened to 'Poms' as a term of affection, or 'whinging Poms' when one wants to denigrate one noisy little subset of the wider Pommie population..

Yes, that's because we like our "pommes" so much...roast, fried, boiled, chipped........just as our nearest European neigbours, the Frogs, have a somewhat nauseating and puzzling habit of eating the tibias, fibulas and pedal extremities of the Anura species of amphibians......
Of course we sometimes qualify as "rosbifs"....but there are now so many messianic vegans and veggies that we daren't admit to it.

My brother served in Germany in the Army. He said soldiers would call the Germans, Hermanns....as in, Here comes this Hermann, driving a wee, lil VW.

For us it was Heinis.....after the somewhat notorious Heinrich Himmler.
Or "krauts" after that rather strange culinary dish saurkraut.
We also called Japanese "Nips" (sons of Nippon) and Italians (by far the least hated of our adversaries) "Dagoes."
Today, of course, such comments would be "tweeted" with such virulence that the least that we could expect would be a brick through the window.
And what the legendary "Dad's Army" Corporal Jones would have suffered for referring to the British Empire's hirsute adversaries in the colonial wars as "fuzzy wuzzies", God only knows!

Nope, old chap, pommes de terre..... , the humble spud....much loved by Brits after Walter Raleigh presented one to Queen Elizabeth the First as a memento of his adventures and much relied upon, to their ultimate cost, by our former Irish colonial subjects.

Not to deviate from the cooking portion of the thread, but did anyone click on the link and listen?
It's a bit infuriating and depressing.

Sounds great, but they are expensive. Regular ones (1.5"-2") are $1.99/lb., but the baby ones are $4.99/lb. WTF...same spud, but I guess they have a cocktail aura about them.

Ah, they must be trendy gourmet spuds. Our supermarket chain Morrisons sells splendid half kilo bags of washed and virtually unblemished baby murpheys for a quid!

Basically, however cooked, I like them because they are smaller than the big Russets, which I can't finish.
The reason why the price was brought home to me, is the baby ones are side-by-side with the regular ones in bins at Safeway. The regular and baby ones are actually close in size, and many times I have avoided any confusion by purposely choosing biggest among regulars so there is no question.
Long story short, I bought the regular ones, but the checker priced then at the $4.99 price, for a total difference of about $5 on my bill. I didn't find out until I got home. Next trip, I told the Assistant Manager, a friend, and she immediately took $5 off my bill, just on my word. So...I was most greatful to her, but I learned to mention the price and not assume the checker knows the difference.
Anyhow, I'm going to try your recipe and Nick's in the future. Thx guys.
