I remember abuse from certain right-whingers directed towards Korben Dallas at times;  and their attitudes towards Reservists and volunteers whose politics din't match their own..

For goodness sake. He never said you cannot criticize anyone, including ex-servicemen. He warned you for targeted attacks based on the fact nicko is ex military. It is never called for and never related to the topic.

Just drop it with comments based on that part of nicko's life and stick to arguing the points, it isn't hard.

Like Nicko, I'm a former serviceman - and proud of it, even though unlike Nicko I never had to face real danger or even do anything actively to defend Queen and country, other than sit in a nice warm office putting square pegs into round holes as a personnel wallah.

I met very, very few servicemen who relished or wanted war; the vast majority of us loathed the very thought of it. And we feared it.

But most of us had those old fashioned and now much maligned and even reviled attributes - patriotism and love of one's country.

To be described as a "baby killer" and "warmonger" is a foul and gratuitous insult of the very worst kind, and coming as it does on the eve of Remembrancetide when myself and countless other veterans will not only be remembering and honouring those millions of servicemen and women who fell, but also celebrating the peace that their sacrifice bought and praying that it will never, ever happen again.

The tone and direction of this thread is probably the saddest, sickest thing that I have ever read in all my years on forums. I find some of the comments repulsive and disgusting.

Frankly, I don't think I wish to be associated with such obscene sentiment any more.

I can't see this as 'disgusting' censorship, its a positive reaction to 'disgusting' constant bullying of another poster.
I reckon that both Andy and Quill should be censored for making spurious allegations against a person of whom they actually know nothing.

I back Vic's action with one caveat -- to me, the offense is not denigrating nicko's (or anybody's) service, but in saying or implying that they're involved in the killing of babies, in rapes, etc.

I'd say that regardless of the poster's background. It applies to all members regardless of political religion.

You can't accuse someone of a violent crime (or of being accessory to one) on an open forum without proof. Even if you had proof, you should probably give it to the authorities and not worry about NewsFix.
