it's very strange, nicko
i posted up a whole load of wolfie's abusive posts and quill would actually pretend i was drunk rather than bring himself to admit that wolf can be that gross. he just can't bring himself to do it
very strange indeed
still i wouldn't worry nicko, i think ben nailed it when he said the only person he is making a fool of is himself

I tend to attack the post, not the poster. Disagreeing with you isn't calling you a name.
But I will give a poster a pet name like Walter Mitty, when I find their personal exploits unbelievable.
I find that to be superior to just calling them a liar.

Bullsheit. You of all people are in it just to troll. You raise issues merely to toss accusations at someone.
You are doing it right now in the 3rd world thread. You don't have any issues, nor any answers. Watch. You will end up saying getting rid of the homeless is the answer. You don't give a sheit about where they will go, or what will happen to them. You just want Balboa Park to be clean.
Yet, if an oil company wants to come in and drill in Balboa Park, you welcome them. You don't give a damn about the mess. It's all relative to your RW, anti-humanist values

Oh do calm down, nicko. You're always on someone's back. Why?
You do realise that trying to get someone banned is in itself a bannable offence?
ALL forums are getting quieter, not just this one. It's a sign of the times (changing fads).
Nicko, if wolfie agreed with your political views, I bet you would not care how 'odious' or 'insulting' he was. I bet you'd like him!
He makes a good contribution to threads when he is not upset.
Of course I don't agree with him posting insults. He has a temper and he gets spells in the basement for it, so it's not as if he gets away with it all the time.

I've noticed that Andy isn't here much anymore and I've no idea what's upset him but I don't think it's got anything to do with wolfie - they got on well.
I'm not here much either, but that's simply cos I'm busy.
The solution to forum fights is that we should all try to get on better with each other - ALL of us!
(Got a very busy day ahead, I'll pop in late tonight, or tomorrow.)

To be really fair, I think it may have been me who “chased away” Syl and rags with my “Nora joke”.
I wish they’d reconsider though. I do miss them both.

eddie wrote:Who’s Kyle?
lol, an old friend of my youngest son.
i spoke loads about him on the nora thread and raggs was fairly dancing with rage about it
cos i said that when he was younger he had megga anger issues and decided that he absolutely hated jews
so i teased him out of it by telling him that he's really jewish and that his name isn;t really kyle sharmar it's kyle sharmstein. i called him jewboy and threw pennies at him. i honestly did it to show him how it felt to be targeted. his ridiculous hatred lasted all of a couple of weeks once i'd discovered it. i showed him that not only was it illogical, irrational, pointless and stupid to hate people but it also was wrong cos it doesn;t feel nice, right? right, he said, getting it
raggs thought it was an appalling way to treat a young child but i figured it worked out ok and cured him of it anyways.
i think syl and cass may well have agreed but just didn't say anything
soz if i chased them all away

Well I like your story of Kyle. I would have been quite similar in my approach. I find if you’re refreshingly honest, people get some kind of buzz from it.
Actually most people are gagging for honesty.

you might like it but i dont think they did. i was going to tell of a funny thing that happened with kyle but i didn't dare to at the time, i think raggs would have had a blue fit. i'll say it now though
kyle was over my house as usual and somehow anyway the subject got onto hitler and my youngest turned to me and said ''mum, isn't it true that hitler didn't just kill jews, he killed all kinds of people, right?''. i said ''oh, yes, that's right''. he then turned to kyle and said ''see, kyle?. see, kyle? i told you''. i quickly spun round and said ''Sieg Heil? you can't say that to jewboy here, that's just going too far''.
we all falling over laughing but even kyle was laughing then.
but he was forever at my house and i once said to my son, why can't you go over his gaff after school. why you both constantly over here and he told me cos his grandad just shouts at him and also mum he told me that he loves being over here. he said you scare the shit out of him but he really loves you lolol
possibly because all i did was make sure he changed out of wet clothes, made sure he had a good meal, gave him hugs and talked to him rather than at him and then i listened when he spoke back

Your house sounds so much like mine, you sound so much like me, your kids and their friends, sound so much how mine would react, it’s fucking uncanny.
My kids, my friends, my chosen people, all understand honesty, truth and a good fucking joke.
And they all love me.
Perhaps the only people that will ever love you...
are the ones that truly, honestly, understand you.

I applaud gelico's methods, even if unorthodox, but I dont have entry methods for who is and who is not a friend.
"Your chosen people"?
People make mistakes in lfie and being a real friends is not dropping them for mistakes or even some that tell lies in life. As people go through things and even become desperate at times, due to what they are going through. Its more about being understanding and open to helping people..
Seems you are being at odds with your earlier statement Eddie.

My chosen people means the people that I choose to be in my life. Who I hold close to me.
Why didn’t you just ask me what I meant instead of assuming and taking up your own time finding a link I really won’t look at...because you didn’t ask me what I meant.
You assumed. I hate that. It’s truly destroying to do that to yourself didge.
It’s a really poor waste of your time, to assume.
It means you already think you’re right.

Worst deflection I have ever heard
I dont choose to have people in my life, because people are simple in my life.
You choose not to have people in your life and hence you have this all the wrong way round
So I never assumed anything
I am simple critical of your thinking and have ever right to express this

true
How about love without expectations?
Not everyone truely understands me and me the same of others. Take for example some family members that do not truely understand me.
It does not mean I love them any less or vice versa
Love should be freely given without expectations. It often comes naturally
As nobody can truely know somebody fully throughout a life time. As people constantly change who they are, they even fight and argue. We can get to know plenty about them, but its a learning curve through our lives. As people will often face new difficulties all the time.
Hence why there should never be any expectations on love to me and why I strongly disagree with Eddie's statement

Why do you keep trying to convince me in regards to your personality and likeability. When it has absolutely zero to do with the point being made. You dont chose these people as they are already there. You have met them, through work etc, or are family, friends of friends etc. Hence people chose to not see people they do not like. They disown them from their circle to be a part of.
Everyone does this in varying degrees. The worst type of scenarios are like when parents doisown their gay son or daughter.
So stop acting antsy and understand that I completely disagree with your claim
Nobody walks up to someone in the street and tells them they choose them to be their friend. It will be from people you have come to know and thus already have known for a a certain level of time.
So how are you chosing here, when you already know them?
Its like I say people chose not to be with people

Eddie only means that while she's met plenty of people and knows plenty of people well enough to talk to, she has chosen a small percentage of those people to allow into her life as close friends, or in my case as her husband.
One definitely chooses which people one lets into one's life, and how far in they're allowed.

You are not Eddie and she can speak for herself Ben
Nobody activelly chooses who they allow into their lives. Its a unconcious act, like love for example, being one of the driving factors.
Again this is where people already know people to a certain level of degree.
So its not a choice to be a part of a circle, when these people are friends and have become friends. Hence there is not conscious choice here.
conscious choices are not wanting to be with people. Divorce, break ups, feuds, fights etc

I mean the only time people activelly choose their friends, is when they are children, because they lack emotional understanding. They even openly state who is their friends to others. I mean if adults were doing this, I would be slightly concerned they felt the need to.

Am all ears Gelico, how you believe its an active choice?
Did you allow family into your life, or where they already there? Did you allow any friends into your life, or did you both subconciously come to enjoy each others company and simple became part of each others life? When people love a partner. Are they choosing them, or is love subconciously already made them a part of their lives? When peopole propose. Have they subconciously seen themselves together married and subconciously the choice has been made before being asked? Herew again to turn down would be an active concious choice to turn down. I can go on, but can you see my point Gelico?
People do so subconciously. They do not sit their and make a list of their friends. As these are people they have come to know.
So again its not an active choice. In fact there is plenty of scientific evidence behind people matching towards other people. as friends similar to them in traits through their subconcious.
Stopping to see someone is a concious active choice. As the choices are in regards to who you do not allow into your life. The ones that are, already have been as friends already. You never made a choice here activelly. It simple happened over time through your subconcious

Re: NewsFix is a forum that encourages polite, civil debate of current events and ideas
didge...just a thought...supposing I have a co worker....surely |I can choose whether to accept him/her as a friend, remain neutral, or consider then as "not friend"
I know people who i consider "friend" for whom I would do anything in my power to help and aid and with whom I would go for a pint or two with and invite into my home
I know people whom I consider "neutral" with whom I am on speaking terms and might help if asked and i could be bothered to (emergency's excepted) but would not be bothered about going for a pint with em and wouldnt in general invite into my home
I know people who are "Not friends" and to whom I am hostile and would not aid under ANY circumstances (beyond calling emergency services if needed" and most certainly would not invite into my home
then there are people whom I regard as enemy (not many but....) and for whom I would never ...ever..... do anything under any circumstance...and who's existence and survival is to me a matter of zero concern
and you say that isnt a matter of conscious choice??????????????

I think you just answered your own point and backed what I just stated
That was the conscious choice
Again what did I say about subconcious actions to active choices?
So if you have a co-worker. Was your decision based on any active choices, or how your subconcious came through time to accept?
You are by yourt own answers backing what I am actually saying
Read back throughout to what I said on this
I certainly said there is conscious choices on who we decide not to accept
When people who are heroes save lives, do you think this is an active choice or they act on instinct, gut reaction etc?

well, i don't know about you didge, but i am very much aware of the choices i make. it isn't a subconscious thing
