Shit is getting deep in the Republican Party.
In a move that has been foreshadowed for a year, the Republican Party this weekend will cancel presidential primary elections in four states, Politico reports.
Quoting "three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans," the paper said that South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas, which between them comprise around 7 percent of the overall delegate haul, will simply wave away political competition rather than let the likes of Bill Weld, Joe Walsh, and perhaps Mark Sanford take a David vs. Goliath swing at an incumbent president whose Gallup approval ratings among Republicans has been between 87 percent and 91 percent all year.
The cancellations, which grow out of the unprecedented collusion between the Republican National Committee and President Donald Trump's reelection campaign, demonstrates strikingly less confidence than that of his predecessor.

The primaries are basically a formality on the Republican side this year, but this sets a shitty precedent.
Republicans should probably keep their mouths shut when describing the corrupt Democratic Party nomination process.

So-called corrupt, you mean. Sanders isn't a Democrat.

Only won by 3-million votes. Humiliating!

I'm talking about the corruption in the primaries.
This is about the nastiness in party politics and the primary process.

Corruption in primaries goes back to Republican methods of suppression of the votes of certain people of color. Those methods were finely crafted and normalized by the Jim Crow laws of the south. Today we find them in the election or selection to the US Senate and House, the Electoral College and in various state methods of putting forward candidates.
Mostly it's an attempt to have the grouping (of voters) represent something other than people. It's a perennial problem, that began with the founders writing geopolitical boundaries into the Constitution: does democracy mean equivalency among geography (states), or among people (voters). California, a state with a population of 39,557,045, gets no more senators than Wyoming, a state with a population of 577,737. In other words, a voter in Wyoming gets 68.5 times as much representation for his/her vote, as a voter in California.
If you want change, you'll have to rewrite the Constitution.

So you really think that Sanders would have gotten the nod had it not been for a little underhanded shenanigans here and there from the party that he's NOT a member of?
If you believe that, I've got some ocean-front property in Arizona, as King George sang.

I don't think Sanders would have won. I also don't think Trump is going to lose the primary either.
So there is no reason for the bullshit either party is pulling. It's like lying when the truth would serve you better.
